Charlie paused his smoking said with a poker face. “Where is she going?” 

“Going to M Country, she won’t be back for a while Jonathan said 

Charlie’s heart clenched, smoke stuck in his throat, he didn’t say a word 

“Frankly, do you have feelings for Emily?” Jonathan asked 

Charlie exhaled a puff of smoke, replied casually, “Maybe a bit. At first, I thought I wasn’t good enough for such a pure little girl But seeing other guys chasing her, it made me feel uncomfortable 

Seeing you and Estelle so close, I’m honestly a bit jealous. I thought that if I could clean up my act in time, maybe she would see me differently 

I even set a goal for myself, stay away from women for three months, then I go after her.

Charlie smirked coldly. “I was just being too full of myself, overthinking!” 

“About that incident,” Jonathan spoke slowly, “there might be some misunderstanding: it’s not what you think.” 

“I don’t want to talk about that.” Coldness flashed in Charlie’s eyes, he instinctively resisted 

Jonathan paused for a moment, calmly said, “Destiny has a plan for everyone, but if you can’t stand the torment, once you miss it, it might really be gone!” 

Charlie drank the wine in the glass in one gulp, and sneered self-deprecatingly, “A person like me is not suitable for a serious romantic relationship. I don’t need to give affection, as long as the relationship that satisfies desire is more suitable for me.” 

Jonathan didn’t say anything else, just said, “Emily’s flight is at ten tomorrow morning, you figure it out.” 

“Stop talking about her, let’s drink!” Charlie poured drinks for both of them, his face expressionless. 

They drank till late at night, Charlie drank a lot, but his mind was still clear, even when Jonathan was chatting and flirting with Estelle on the phone, he still mocked him clearly 

But when the night was quiet, he suddenly suffered from insomnia, only managed to sleep a bit when dawn was about to break, felt dizzy when he woke up 

In the morning, Charlie had breakfast on time, drove to the company. 

He had a meeting in the morning. In the meeting, his expression was normal, just seemed a bit absent-minded, even the assistant next to him noticed, he checked his watch three times in just ten minutes.

Jonathan’s words echoed in his mind again, he closed his eyes, seemed to see Emily standing in front of him with a bright smile, her crisp voice calling him, “Charlie!”
