Chapter 787

Amiee lifted her head, speaking calmly, “I can’t stand marriages for business benefits, and I ain’t into playing lovey-dovey. So, this is the end.”

She grew weary of contractual marriages, weary of feigned affection. She had always believed that her bond with Josiah would be different, but now she harbored a deeper fear that they might succumb to the fate same as her parents’.

She could handle being fake with others, but not with Josiah.

Josiah was stunned. He looked at her, unable to speak for a moment.

He wanted to ask if it was because of her Hushhush, but if she liked him, why did last night happen?

He had no reason to refuse, since they were just playing pretend.

Always so cool, so unreadable.

“Let’s eat quickly!” Having finished her water, Amiee stood up and left.

Back in her room, she packed a few things, grabbed her laptop, and prepared to head home.

Josiah couldn’t eat anymore. He sat there for a while and then slowly approached.

He leaned against the door, watching her with a complex expression. After a while, he finally asked, “Did I… not satisfy you last night?”

Amiee, “…”

She was rummaging for a USB in her drawer. Clenching her teeth, she turned to look at him and said clearly, “Scram!”.

“I… I!” Josiah’s face turned a bit red. He awkwardly explained, “I admit, last night was my first time. If there’s anything… just let me know. I’ll improve.”

Amiee’s face reddened immediately, she felt like hacking him with a black axe!

Josiah was a bit panicked. He was desperate to keep her, so he blurted out, “Amiee, let’s get married!”

Amiee frowned at him.

Josiah explained, “I’ll take responsibility for last night. We can get married: But don’t worry, we can still be like now, not interfering with each other. This way we won’t have to deal with our elders and we can keep doing what we like.”

Amiee’s gaze became icy, “Scram!”

“Amiee!” Josiah’s face turned icy as well.

Amiee stood up, her voice stern, “Who wants to marry you? Leave now and never come back!”

Josiah saw disgust in Amiee’s eyes. He knew she was a cool person, not talkative, not much of a laugher, but she had never looked at him like this.

The tension and excitement in his heart cooled down. He looked at Amiee and asked word by word, “Can’t we even be friends anymore?”

“Right. From now on we’re total strangers, no need for greetings when we meet.” Amiee said coldly.

Josiah gave a bitter laugh and nodded, “Fine, I won’t bother you anymore.”

His eyes were red, staring at her like a wounded rabbit.

Amiee watched him leave briskly, then heard a “bang” as he shut the door behind him.
