Chapter 841
The chief was super polite to Xavier and his crew. After understanding the situation, he asked, “Ms. Lamont, sorry about all this mess. No wames though, Nicolas and his pals will get what’s coming to them. But this involves your safety, we gotta give your family a ring
“No, don’t!” Norah immediately said.
Xavier looked at Norah in surprise. It would make sense to let her family know about this.
The chief was in a bit of a pickle. If anything happened to Norah, he couldn’t bear the blamel
Norah quickly said, “Today was just a fluke, and once Nicolas and his crew are arrested, everything will be fine. Plus, I’m not hurt, so let’s just leave it at that. No need to call my family!”
Seeing this, the chief had no choice but to go along with Norah. He turned to Xavier and said, “If anything comes up, I’ll contact you. And Mr. Flemmings, if anything happens to Ms. Lamont, please let me know ASAP
“Got it!” Xavier responded.
After finishing with the paperwork, Xavier’s group left with Norah, the chief seeing them off personally. He repeatedly assured them that Nicolas and his crew wouldn’t hurt Norah again. From what he was saying, Nicolas and Jack were probably not going to see the light of day again.
The police sent a car to take them back to the barbecue joint. As Xavier was getting into the car, he bent over and was immediately hit by a wave of intense pain His vision went black and he fell backwards. That slash from Jack was a deep one. Xavier had been holding out for a long time; he was at the end of his rope
Norah’s face went pale, “Mr. Flemmings!”
Damian yelled, “He got a wound on his back, we need to get to a hospital!”
Norah blankly watched as Xavier was wheeled into the operating room. Her legs gave way and she fell to the ground. A policewoman nearby quickly helped her up and sat her down on a chair
Norah looked even more pale than before, her hands shaking non–stop. Xavier had been injured when they were upstairs, but he didn’t hesitate to jump from the second floor into the river to save her all the while keeping quiet about his pain.
She should have noticed earlier, then maybe things wouldn’t have gotten so bad. But his black jacket had covered the blood, and she hadn’t noticed at all. Norah was filled with guilt. If Xavier really died, she would be the culprit, the one who caused his death!
The surgery lasted for two hours, Norah had never felt time drag so long and painfully.
When the doctor came out of the operating room and said that Xavier was okay, the rock in her chest finally fell to the ground. She could finally breathe a sigh of relief. Then darkness came. Norah heard the policewoman and Zachary and the others running towards her, then quickly lost consciousness.
