“I asked how the investigation was going over there.” 

After making a phone call, Royce spoke up, “She came in as Brenton’s companion. We checked the surveillance footage, and she was wearing a mask at the time, claiming to have a cold. She was personally brought by the third young master of the Herman family, and the security guard at the entrance couldn’t insist on her removing the mask.” 

“The Herman family?” Robert furrowed his brow. 

Royce replied, “The explanation given by the Herman family is that Brenton has been abroad all these years and only returned home this year. He was unaware of the woman pursuing Lenny.” 

Robert’s eyes turned cold. “It sounds too good to be true, but this matter definitely isn’t that simple. Let’s continue investigating.” 

“Yes.” 

Deandre was furious. Just moments ago, Lennon was fighting for his life, on the brink of death. He couldn’t explode in anger then, but now that Lennon was out of danger, he no longer needed to suppress his emotions. 

Deandre’s voice raised a few notches, “What’s the deal with Lenny’s pursuer? Our child hasn’t provoked her, and she’s been kidnapping and stabbing people. This is just outrageous!” 

After a moment of silence, Robert looked at Mariela again, his gaze sharp. 

“What happened on the rooftop, Marie? How did Lenny get injured?” 

Mariela lowered her head and said, “It was all 

my 

fault.” 

Rayne looked at her sharply, “Marie, what do you mean by this?” 

Mariela told the story exactly as it happened. 

Bella blamed with a tone, “So Lenny took the stab for you?” 

Mariela pursed her lips tightly, “Hmm.” 

Bella frowned and said, “Mariela, you were too impulsive. We had already called the police and there were also security guards in the mansion. Couldn’t you have waited a little longer? If it weren’t for your impulsive actions, Lenny wouldn’t have been injured for no reason.” 

“I’m sorry, Bella. It’s all my fault,” Mariela said with difficulty, burying her head even lower. 

Bella was aggressive:“Causing such a big trouble even before entering the door.” 

Deandre’s face darkened.“Bella, what do you mean by that? It was clearly your son Lenny who got involved in a love debt, my daughter is the victim, and you blame it on my daughter?” 

Deandre coldly said, “It’s easy for you to say, wait and wait some more. That person kidnapped my little daughter, with a knife held to her neck, and threatened to kill Angel if Mariela doesn’t go to her. You really have no idea what it feels like.” 

“Bodyguard?” Deandre sneered.
