Lennon laughed, and the tense string suddenly loosened.

“Tell a story,” Mariela whispered softly.
“Okay.”
He opened his phone and searched for a few bedtime stories. He spoke to her in a low and gentle voice.
Gradually, Mariela stopped bothering him.
The hand that was gripping his collar also dropped down.
Lennon finally managed to lull Mariela to sleep.
