The next morning. Mariela was awakened by a phone call. 

She groggily pressed the answer button, her voice filled with heavy drowsiness, Hello? Who is it?” 

“Mariela, come to the hospital and see Jay quickly,” came Efrain’s urgent and worried voice over the phone, ‘Jay almost died, you know?” Mariela was extremely annoyed when she heard Jaime’s name. She had already been exhausted from making love with Lennon last night and she hadn’t even had enough sleep before being awakened again, only to find out it was Jaime. 

Mariela was very annoyed and her temper was flaring. She snapped, “If he’s dead, just take care of his body and let me know when the funeral is. Out of respect for our past relationship, I can give his mother a big sum of money.” 

After saying that, Mariela didn’t care about Efrain’s reaction. She decisively hung up the phone and put it on silent mode. 

Lennon was awakened by the commotion. In the bed, Lennon tightened his grip on Mariela’s hand, his voice low and magnetic, “Stay with me a little longer.” 

Mariela nuzzled against Lennon’s chest, like an affectionate little cat. 

The two of them squeezed into the same warm blanket, embracing each other as they slept. 

It seemed that they could only see each other in the world. 

No matter how strong the wind and

outside, it had nothing to do with them. 

When Efrain called, Jaime was already awake. 

This phone call was made by Efrain himself. Efrain knew what Jaime was thinking. 

Jaime held a flicker of unrealistic hope in his heart. He wanted to know whether Mariela would worry about him if she knew he had almost died. Would she come to see him? 

So, Jaime listened to the phone call with anticipation. 

He asked Efrain to turn on the speakerphone. 

However, when Mariela heard that Jaime almost died, instead of showing concern, she even said such heartless words. 

Jaime clenched his fists tightly, with the veins on the back of his hands bulging, his face pale as paper, and his lips devoid of color. 

Efrain put away his phone and swallowed his saliva. He thought that Jaime was going to get angry, so he didn’t dare to breathe. However, Jaime did not go crazy and get angry as usual. 

After a moment of silence, Jaime simply said, “Please go out, leave me alone.”
