Jaime’s eyes reddened with rage. In his fury, he grabbed Lauryn by the collar and lifted her off the ground. 

“You told me that working with you was only to break Marie and Lennon up! You promised me you would not hurt her!” he roared. Before Lauryn could respond, the bodyguards nearby rushed forward and pulled her away, immediately engaging in a fight with Jaime. 

Jaime soon was grappling with the bodyguards. 

The bodyguards of the Stark family were all professionally trained and highly skilled. Jaime was no match for them. Within a few moves, he was beaten to the ground. 

Lauryn smoothed out her ruffled clothes, her eyes full of disdain.“I did say I would not hurt her, and I have not. I am not the one who kidnapped her. Why are you yelling at me?” 

Jaime struggled to get up. 

His face was bruised, and pain shot through his body from multiple wounds, but he didn’t care about his injuries. His only concern was Mariela. 

“What did they do to Marie? Where is she now?” he demanded. 

Lauryn’s expression remained indifferent.“How should I know? If you are so worried, go find her yourself.” 

Jaime’s piercing gaze locked onto her, his voice full of hatred.“If anything happens to Marie, I will never let you people off!” 

Lauryn could not help but laugh. 

“Jaime, don’t forget how the Herman Group managed to survive. Who is the biggest shareholder of your company now? Threaten me? You are not even qualified.” 

Jaime clenched his fists tightly, the veins on the back of his hands bulging. 

Back when the Herman Group’s funding chain had broken, pushing them to the brink of bankruptcy, he had desperately sought investments. However, because he had offended both the Logan and Stark families, no company had been willing to help him. 

Then, Lauryn approached him with a business card. 

Desperate and out of options, he agreed to work with her and made a call to Bruce. 

It was only later that he learned both Bruce and Lauryn were merely pawns, taking orders from someone else. 

He had never met their real boss, nor did he even know his full name. 

The Herman Group was no longer in the hands of the Herman family. 

The largest shareholder of the Herman Group was one of Nikolas’s subordinates, a mere figurehead holding the shares on Nikolas’s behalf. Nikolas was the actual controlling shareholder.
