“Go, untie her. What is the fun in keeping her bound?” Nikolas said to Makhi. 

“Yes.” Makhi stepped toward Mariela. 

Everyone present had heard their conversation loud and clear. Just moments ago, Nikolas had ordered his men to violate Mariela. 

They had already lunged at her like a pack of starving wolves. 

Mariela was lying near the edge of the building, a bit farther away from them. 

Halfway there, they all froze at Nikolas’s words. Swallowing hard, they turned their burning gazes toward Mariela, impatiently waiting for Makhi to untie her. 

Mariela glared at Nikolas with such intense hatred that it seemed she wanted to tear him apart, piece by piece. 

Nikolas, the sadist that he was, was satisfied with that look. His lips curled into a smile, his voice laced with amusement.“You hate me?”

Makhi walked over in a few strides, grabbed Mariela, and dragged her away from the edge. He reached down and loosened the ropes binding 

her. 

The moment Mariela was freed, she lunged at Nikolas with reckless abandon. 

Since Makhi had just pulled her over, Nikolas was standing close by. In that split second, even Makhi was caught off guard. 

Nikolas’s men, their minds clouded with filth, were too busy fantasizing about violating the woman to anticipate that she might actually fight back. They had assumed she was nothing more than a defenseless weakling. 

So no one stopped Mariela in time. 

She made it to Nikolas. 

Nikolas reacted swiftly, dodging her fatal strike. 

-Then, he countered, striking back.“Stay out of this!” 

His eyes gleamed with excitement, his entire being consumed by a manic thrill. He barked at his men to stand down, refusing their interference. 

The surveillance videos his subordinates had sent him had always shown Mariela crying, drowning herself in alcohol, and mourning Lennon. So he had assumed she was nothing but a pretty fool, hopelessly lovesick, unable to live without a man. 

Yes, he knew she was a lawyer, but that had never made him think more highly of her.
