Nikolas had been through scenes like this more times than he could count. After his brief moment of surprise, he quickly composed himself, shrugging indifferently. “Now that is more like you, Lennon. If you had really thrown your life away over a woman, you would not have been worthy of being my opponent.” 

From the way Nikolas carried himself, it was clear he had been prepared for this. 

However, at that moment, he was out in the open, while Lennon’s people remained hidden in the shadows. Beyond the snipers, Nikolas had no way of knowing what other forces Lennon had lying in wait, watching their every move, ready to strike at any moment. 

In the blink of an eye, the situation had flipped against him. 

Yet Nikolas remained unshaken, his expression completely composed.

A helicopter approached, hovering level with the twenty–sixth floor. 

It was positioned in the same direction as the rising sun. Mariela turned her head toward it. The morning sunlight was blinding, making her instinctively squint.

“Marie…” A familiar voice, trembling with fear, reached her ears. 

Mariela’s eyes snapped wide open. 

Angelica was being held up by a muscular man, dangling helplessly in her line of sight. 

They were close enough that Mariela could see every ounce of terror on Angelica’s face. 

Mariela’s face turned deathly pale, her blood running ice–cold. 

-After she had gone missing, Deandre and Haleigh had been running around frantically searching for her, leaving Angelica alone at the Logan’s

Before heading out, Haleigh had tucked Angelica into bed, thinking she would be safe. Haleigh had no idea that not long after she left, Nikolas’s men had stormed into the villa and taken Angelica. 

This time, Nikolas brought several mercenaries from Italy to America. The one he sent to abduct Angelica was a mercenary who had undergone several years of military training, so ordinary bodyguards were no match for him. 

Nikolas turned to look at Lennon and Mariela, a smirk playing on his lips. “What do you think will happen … if I drop her from here?” 

“No! Don’t do it!” Mariela rasped, her voice raw.“Pfft…” Nikolas chuckled.
