Mariela was abour to get out of the car. 

At this time, her phone rang. 

She took out her phone and glanced at it, her brow furrowing. 

“Maricla, I’m in New York. Can we meet up?” 

The next day at work, Skyla gave Mariela two cases. 

Skyla gave the case files to Mariela and said quickly, “The client in this case wants to appeal. The previous lawyer quit, so it’s your job now. The appeal deadline is soon, so write the appeal document today and submit it to the court. 

“And this work injury case, you need to take the client for an injury assessment and labor capacity evaluation. Try to do it today or tomorrow, Tomorrow is Friday, so don’t delay until next week.”

Her colleagues had left, leaving her alone in the firm. 

She hadn’t eaten dinner yet. 

Mariela cleaned her desk, turned off the lights, locked up, and left. 

Her apartment was a ten–minute walk from the firm, so she walked to work daily. 

Lennon called. 

“Marie, are you home?” 

Just finished work, walking home.” 

Lennon asked, “Have you eaten?”

I’ll order takeout once I home.” 

Lennon joked, “Ms. Logan, your takeout is coming.” 

“Huh? You ordered takeout for me?”
