Selene whipped around to face her, "What did you just say?"
"I'm moving out tomorrow. You'll have the place to yourself," Flora replied, her voice dripping with hidden meaning. "Feel free to call whoever you like."
"Are you seriously moving out?" Selene's brows knitted together, clearly annoyed.
Flora just gave a nonchalant sigh.
"Fine, whatever," Selene said, her face a mask of indifference as she set her cup back on the table. "Pour your own drink."
She wasn't going to do it for her.
A bit miffed, Selene pulled on her sleep mask and flopped back onto the bed. But then she thought, why was she even mad? She and Flora weren't exactly besties anyway; maybe it was for the best not to live together. Plus, she'd have the whole big room to herself.
She could do whatever she wanted with it.
Still, Flora was such a sellout!
Flora thought Selene's anger was pretty ridiculous and ignored her, heading off for a shower.
...
In the exec office at headquarters.
"Director, you wanted to see me?"
Kylie walked in, looking a bit worn out. She'd taken a two-hour shower when she got home today, but she still felt grimy.
Mike put on his reading glasses and glanced at Kylie, his expression remaining gentle. "Have a seat."
Kylie took a seat.
"I heard there was some friction between you and Flora, who just joined today."
Kylie's face instantly darkened.
Friction was putting it mildly.
She'd never been this humiliated in her entire life!
Even though the cafeteria staff claimed it was an accident, that they’d accidentally spilled the slop, she wasn't buying such a flimsy excuse.
"Take a breather," Mike said gently. "I've looked into what happened between you and Flora; it’s just a misunderstanding. Don’t blow it out of proportion; it won't do you any good."
Kylie frowned, wondering what he meant by it not doing her any good.
"As for Flora, try not to rile her up. It’d be wise to get on her good side; it could really help you down the line," Mike, valuing talent, didn't want Kylie to make a big mistake, but he couldn't spell it out for her: "If you can’t be friends, at least don't make her an enemy."
"You want me to buddy up with her?!" Kylie was in disbelief.
How could being friends with Flora possibly benefit her?!
She couldn't wrap her head around why everyone was telling her not to mess with Flora.
Flora, a nobody without any clout, what was there to be scared of?
Mike hinted as much as he could without spilling the beans, sighing, "Just trust me on this. Plus, the Reyes and Falcone families will be visiting in a few days. You’ve been aiming to be the chief physician for them, right? This is your big chance."
"The Reyes and Falcone families?!"
Kylie’s whole demeanor changed, eyes lighting up with excitement and anticipation!
