Just then, the ringtone of a cell phone shattered the quiet. Zavier pulled out his phone; it was a call from the head of the Schuler family, their father, Brandon. Assuming it was about the progress of getting Flora into the Martial World, he casually answered.

"Father—"

But before Zavier could say more, an angry tirade exploded from the other end, "Get back here! Both of you, now!"

Even through the phone, Brandon's rage was unmistakable. Lillian jumped, startled, while Zavier was confused, "Father, what's going on?"

Why the sudden outburst? Could he have somehow found out what just happened? That seemed unlikely… How could he know so soon?

"What kind of mess have you two gotten into!" Brandon was fuming. "It's one thing to lay a hand on a commoner, but to get caught by the FUND! Jonathan already called, demanding Lillian be sent to the Enforcement Division right away!"

Zavier's grip on the phone tightened. How was this possible? The incident had happened less than ten minutes ago, and the FUND already knew?

"Dad, I’m not going! I refuse!" At the mention of the Enforcement Division, Lillian, terrified, collapsed to the floor and grabbed Zavier's phone, yelling, "Dad! I did hit her, but that Flora isn’t just a commoner! She must be one of The Martialists; she even broke my hand! I’m not going to the Enforcement Division, no way!"

"You're saying Flora is one of The Martialists?" Brandon paused, his anger cooling a bit as confusion took over. "Alright, alright, just get back here first."

The FUND was demanding someone, and they couldn’t refuse, nor did they dare. Sending Lillian to the Enforcement Division would be half her life gone. Brandon couldn't bear that. If Flora was indeed a Martialist, then the blame would fall on her. Martialists hiding among commoners was a serious offense to the FUND, punishable by stripping their powers and severing limbs.

"What’s up?" Flora asked, puzzled.

"Connor, do you have any clout in the Martial World?" Flora asked, feeling upbeat, like she had a strong ally.

"A bit," Connor replied.

"Is it significant?" Flora asked, curious.

"It's decent," Connor modestly said.

"And how does it stack up against the Schuler family?" Flora pondered.

Connor grinned and patted her head, "The Schuler family? Your man here, I’m worth a hundred of them."

"Oh~" Flora replied, a knowing smile spreading across her face.
