Mr. Atticus was fuming, pouring out all the humiliation he'd suffered at Flora's and in the hospital ward, doubling his rage onto Selene.

"Have I been too lenient with you all this time?" he snapped, grabbing a medical textbook from the small couch and hurling it at Selene. "Or do you think now that you've got connections with Club 257 and Empire Base, you can just ignore me?"

Mr. Atticus's usual calm facade was shattered, revealing a sinister and terrifying face. "So, you're thinking of ditching the medical organization to join Flora now, aren't you?"

Selene struggled to her feet, her ears still ringing, catching only bits and pieces of Mr. Atticus's rant.

She looked up at him—her teacher, usually so gentle and kind, now hysterical and grotesque.

From the moment on the island when Mr. Atticus had used Nina, Selene had harbored doubts. And now...

"Selene, you brought this on yourself!" Mr. Atticus shouted angrily. "Everyone, get in here now!"

Orla and the others outside reluctantly pushed the door open and entered.

Seeing the room in disarray, Selene with a swollen cheek, and Mr. Atticus, furious enough to devour someone, they tensed up.
