Shawn's condition had finally stabilized, but out of nowhere, things took a turn for the worse, leaving Dr. Ray and the hospital's top doctors at their wits' end.

Shawn's parents were already there, standing silently outside the operating room. Alyssa was a wreck, crying uncontrollably, while Miguel held her close, his eyes red-rimmed with tears.

No one expects to face something like this in their middle age.

Just this morning, Shawn was doing fine, but now, just a few hours later, he lay bloodied in the cold operating room.

"Uncle, Auntie, don't worry. Dr. Ray is treating Shawn now. He's going to be okay," Darcy whispered to Alyssa, trying to soothe her. Darcy and Shawn had been childhood sweethearts, and she was almost like a daughter to Miguel and Alyssa.

"Don't cry, honey. What if Shawn wakes up and finds you sick?" Miguel said softly, trying to comfort his wife. He was a university professor, gentle and refined, with the same inherent kindness as Shawn.

"Honey..." Alyssa choked out between sobs.

"Dr. Ray!"

The operating room doors finally swung open, and Darcy was the first to rush forward. "How's Shawn?"

Miguel and Alyssa quickly followed, desperate for answers.

But Dr. Ray was in no mood to talk. He hurried off to meet Flora.

Seeing Dr. Ray so frantic, Miguel and Alyssa grew even more anxious. They turned to the doctors who had come out behind him. "Doctors, how is he?"

"You... need to prepare yourselves."

The doctors exchanged uneasy glances before speaking up.

Hearing this, a flicker of hope ignited in Miguel and Alyssa's hearts.

Darcy felt it too.

They had seen how urgently Dr. Ray had moved. Whoever he went to get must be exceptional.

Maybe, just maybe, Shawn could be saved!

They waited, eyes glued to the entrance.

A few minutes later, Dr. Ray finally appeared.

He walked in front, side by side with Flora. Behind them were Connor, Raul, Henrik, and finally, Moss and Beck.

Alyssa, desperate, rushed forward. "Dr. Ray, I heard you brought in other doctors? Where are they?"

This might be her son's last hope. She followed Dr. Ray's gaze and saw a young woman, barely more than a girl.
