Flora had no choice but to give Connor a ring and let him know she was heading to the Reyes Estate first.

"Alright, you go on ahead. I'll catch up soon," he replied.

Connor's voice, deep and resonant, flowed through the phone with a comforting, magnetic quality.

Flora couldn't help but smile softly as she agreed.

Half an hour later, Flora and Kruz pulled up at the Reyes Estate.

Everyone there knew Kruz, so they didn't face any obstacles getting in.

"Mr. Kruz, what brings you here?" The butler hurried over as soon as he heard Kruz had arrived.

With Karter having suddenly collapsed, the whole place was buzzing with activity.

"I heard about Karter, so I came to see how he's doing and brought along a top-notch doctor!" Kruz announced.

"Thanks, Mr. Kruz, but we've already called in Ms. Abbey," the butler replied.

"Abbey?" Kruz waved it off dismissively. "She's not up to scratch! My Flora here is way better, right, Flora?"

The butler, focused on Karter, who lay unconscious, hadn't really noticed anyone else. But given Kruz's special status, he had to pay attention. It wasn't until Kruz praised Flora that he took a proper look.

That look sent shivers down his spine.

"Alan!?" he stammered.

"Patrick, have you lost it? What second young master?" Kruz waved a hand in front of Patrick's face. "Stop wasting time; Karter's still in bed."

"Let's just head in," Kruz said, pulling Flora along as they made their way upstairs, with the butler trailing behind them, finally snapping out of his daze.

The resemblance was uncanny!

"What do you mean by 'not looking good'?" Adrian's voice was tight as he glanced at Karter, lying there like a withered old tree.

It was all those troublemakers' fault for provoking him, causing his dad to cough up blood!

"I warned Karter to take it easy, but he wouldn't listen," Abbey sighed. "Now, he's severely weakened inside. I can try surgery and support him with medication, hoping it'll help."

"But that's just a temporary fix. At best, he might have a few more years."

After Abbey finished, a heavy silence filled the room.

Adrian's body trembled even more.

Then, cutting through the sorrow, a cool, indifferent voice came from the doorway:

"Knowing how weak he is inside, going for surgery now is like signing his death warrant, don't you think?"
