The man’s voice trembled as he laid his last card on the table.

A cold laugh slipped from his throat, slow and smooth, almost musical. Even so, it sent chills down the man’s spine, making him feel like screaming.

“You really thought I wouldn’t find out? What did Abbey offer you to make you risk your life?”

The name 'Abbey' made the man collapse to the floor.

Yeah, Connor wasn’t someone to mess with. He’d find out everything!

“Please, don’t kill me! I’m still useful! I swear, I have value!” The man broke down completely, begging for his life.

“Too late.”

Those two icy words cut through the air.

When word got out that Flora was hurt, it spread like wildfire across Lone Island.

Amanda, Kruz, and Ethan rushed to the hospital as soon as they heard.

“Ma’am, you should head back. Ms. Flora hasn’t woken up yet. The boss said no one’s allowed to visit while she’s sleeping.”

Amanda peered through the glass into the hospital room and saw Flora looking so fragile on the bed. Her heart twisted painfully.

“Who the hell did this!”

Kruz couldn’t stop himself from cursing. If he figured out who was behind this, he’d make them pay, no doubt about it! Flora’s hands were everything! And someone purposefully hurt them!

Even Ethan, normally so composed, had a face full of anger.

“Where’s Connor?” Amanda asked after a moment of silence.

“The boss had to leave for something urgent.”

Flora was lying there in a hospital bed—what could be more urgent than that?

Amanda had a hunch about what Connor was up to.

“Bang!”

The door flew open, and Tommy stormed in, leaning heavily on his cane. Seeing Abbey laughing on the bed, his anger boiled over, nearly causing him a heart attack.

He tossed his cane aside, marched over to Abbey, snatched the phone from her hands, and smashed it to the ground.

Then, he slapped her hard across the face.

“Have you lost your mind!” Tommy yelled. “You know how much Connor cares about Flora! Why would you hurt her?”

“Because Flora deserves it! I just regret not crippling or killing her myself!”

“You!” Tommy pointed a trembling finger at the nearly unhinged Abbey, his lips quivering, but no words came. This girl, once his pride, now seemed like a stranger.

“Our White family runs the whole medical scene on Lone Island. Would Connor dare to go against us? Would he dare to kill me?” Abbey sneered, a sinister smile on her face. She thought it was worth it, even if it meant taking a beating, if it meant Flora would be crippled.

“You really are...” Tommy was so furious, he nearly had a heart attack. “I’ve got a car ready for you. Leave the White family now. I’ll get you somewhere safe.”

Despite everything, she was his granddaughter, the one he’d cherished for years. He couldn’t just stand by and watch her get hurt.

But before he could finish, the butler burst in, panic written all over his face: “Sir! It’s bad! Connor’s coming, and he’s bringing his men!”
