Candace's face went pale. She knew Nathan didn't like her, but brushing her off in front of Jaden was just plain harsh.

What a jerk!

She cursed him silently, though outwardly she looked like a picture of wounded innocence, clutching her gift mid-air, on the brink of tears.

Jaden, sensing the tension, took the gift from her and hesitated before speaking to Nathan, "Grandpa, Candace really put a lot of thought into this…"

"Are you trying to tell me what to do?" Nathan shot back, his tone sharp. "Listen, Jaden, I don't trust this woman one bit. Keeping her around will only bring you trouble. You should send her packing!"

"Grandpa, if it weren't for Candace, I wouldn't be here today. She's lost her family, and if I send her away, how will she manage?"

Nathan shook his head, clearly disappointed in Jaden. Jaden had potential, but his taste in people was seriously lacking. To him, Candace was nothing but trouble.

"Alright, have it your way. But mark my words, you'll learn the hard way. We've got important guests tomorrow, so make sure she doesn't cause any trouble. If she does, both of you will be out of the Neville family!" And with that, Nathan stormed off.

"Jaden…" Candace's voice wavered.

"Don't worry about Grandpa's temper. Just get some rest," Jaden said, clearly frazzled and not in the mood to comfort her as he usually would.

...

At the villa, Flora and Connor were tidying up their closet together. They were sitting cross-legged on the carpet, sorting clothes piece by piece. Connor never let the servants into their bedroom; he preferred handling these things himself.

"Here, let me handle that," Connor said, taking the clothes from Flora and folding them neatly. For items that couldn't be folded, he ironed them and hung them up. Although it was supposed to be a team effort, Flora barely lifted a finger, just watching Connor with a smile.

Most of their clothes were matching couple outfits. Connor, ever the planner, would have similar men's outfits custom-made whenever he saw something Flora wore. Even their pajamas matched. Flora liked sleeping in a sleeping bag, so he got one too. They were currently both in frog-themed sleeping bags, looking like two little frogs from behind.

...

The next day, Flora made a stop at the Reyes family. Karter had mentioned wanting to discuss something with her.

"Miss!"

As she passed by the racetrack, the Reyes family's racing team was practicing. Spotting her, they excitedly shouted her name!

Youth had to leave early for some business but left a few senior coaches to continue the training.

"Sis!"
