Elsewhere, Nanson parked his car at the agreed meeting place with Gerard. Just as he stepped out, he saw Gerard approaching.

"Mr. Yeager."

"Gerry." Nanson greeted him, genuinely pleased to see Gerard, pulling him into a warm hug.

It was quite curious, Gerard usually kept to himself, with only his father and grandmother being close family. The rest of his relatives were kept at a distance. Yet, with Nanson, there was something different; he couldn't help but feel drawn to him.

Nanson asked, "Gerry, any news about your mom?"

Gerard quickly shook his head, "No, no."

Soon, their food arrived, and as they ate, Nanson continued, "Gerry, since your grandmother knows something about your mom, you need to find a way to get her to talk. Otherwise, without any information, finding someone is like looking for a needle in a haystack."

Gerard sighed, "My grandmother really dislikes my mom."

Wanting to help, Nanson asked, "So what's the situation at home now? Does your grandmother know you're looking for your mom? And your dad, surely he knows more about your mom's situation than your grandmother. Why not ask him?"

Though he had known Gerard for a while, Nanson knew little about his family. He was aware that Gerard had lost his mom at a young age and had a difficult relationship with his grandmother. His father was a topic Gerard never brought up.

"Our family situation is complicated," Gerard admitted, taking a sip of his soda. "When I was born, my dad was in a severe car accident, lost a leg, and now, whenever the weather's bad, he suffers from phantom limb pain. He paused, recalling something. "Last year, around March or April, my dad's condition suddenly improved. He seemed to remember a lot and even made a trip to Cloudcrest. But a few days after returning, his health took a turn for the worse, and since then, he's been living in a care home almost every day."
