Lamia sneered, arms crossed, her usual demure demeanor nowhere to be seen.

Her friends chimed in, mocking me.

"I knew something smelled bad today. It’s the stench of poverty from you," one said.

"Trying to wear a gown, huh? It looks like you bought it from a street vendor."

One of the women recognized me from the club entrance, and her contempt was even more evident.

"Aren’t you that waitress? How did you sneak in here? Trying to sneak in and hook a rich guy? Dream on!"

As she spoke, she threw her champagne at me.

The cold liquid soaked through my dress, and Lamia laughed in triumph.
