"Neither am I," Debra quipped back, matching his indifference.

He leaned forward. "What do you feel like eating tonight? American? Italian? French?"

Drake didn't even let him finish. He asked Debra, "What's the request now?"

Debra smiled, "You're sharp, Mr. Lowe."

Peter was confused. Drake was supposed to punish Debra, but there wasn't even a hint of anger on his face.

"I'd like a phone," Debra said.

Drake's hand paused mid-cut as he sliced his steak. The request seemed to have hit a nerve.

"The mercenaries you sent to hunt me and Juan on that island shot at the cameraman. Did you know about that?"

Drake's smile faded. Debra could tell from his reaction that those two mercenaries had already been dealt with. He had no idea what had gone down in that jungle.

She continued, "It was a live broadcast. Millions of people were watching. When the shot destroyed the camera, the feed cut off, leaving viewers to speculate. They'll assume we were attacked by terrorists. I went missing, and Juan was injured. It won't be long before the police start investigating, and then you will be in a world of trouble."

Drake shot a look at Peter, who stood there dumbfounded.
