Lara anxiously looked at Debra, holding her breath.

Debra met Drake's eyes and said, "Yes, I did it on purpose."

As Drake's eyes narrowed, she added, "Those jewels were expensive. I couldn't wear them when you had a fiancée. I was going to pretend I forgot to wear them, but Lara didn't understand, insisting on bringing them to me. How could I accept them?"

She glanced at Liza and asked, "Miss Eaton, you agree with me, right?"

Liza scoffed, "At least you know your place."

Disinterested in going on the conversation, she hooked her arm through Cathryn's and said, "Let's go."

Cathryn's mind was elsewhere. She wanted to see how Drake would handle Debra.

Drake turned his attention back to Debra.

"Boss," Kale started to speak, but Drake cut him off with a dismissive wave. "So, this was all just a misunderstanding?"

"Exactly," Debra responded quickly, knowing when to stand her ground and when to back down.

Drake believed her, given how scared she had been at the gate earlier.

"It's getting late. Go rest," he said.

Debra was surprised that he was letting it go so easily. Just as she was about to take Lara upstairs, Drake spoke up, "You go up. She stays."

Before Lara could respond, Drake sneered, "What good would that do? You have even less say than she does."

"Drake!" Debra exclaimed.

"Are you mad? I held back when you were insulting me. Get upstairs before I change my mind," he said.

Debra could sense his bad mood. She squeezed Lara's hand, but Lara whispered, "This is my fault. I'll accept Mr. Lowe's punishment."

She then walked over to Drake's side.

Debra lingered, and Drake was not happy. "Upstairs. Don't make me say it again."
