"The waters in Seamar City run too deep. I don't want her to know too much," Juan replied, kicking the sack toward Garland. "Load him up. I'll meet you upstairs."

"Hey, you're seriously dumping this on me?" Garland growled, glancing at the motionless Edgar inside the sack.

His face was pale from blood loss. Of all the people he could've kidnapped, it had to be the two most cherished women. Edgar brought this on himself.

...

Drake and Kale finally arrived at the factory, only to find the place deserted.

Drake scanned the place and asked, "You're sure this is the place?"

"Yes, boss," Kale replied firmly. "The team tracked the signal from the phone call. It came from here."

Drake glanced at his watch. Two hours had already passed since they'd set out.

Maybe it was all over.

His jaw tightened as frustration flashed in his eyes. "Damn Edgar! Can't even hold out for long enough to make it worthwhile."

The next morning, at the Eaton Mansion.

"Debra left? How could she just leave?" Liza's voice was laced with urgency as she fired off her questions. "When did she go? Is she already on the plane?"

The maid nodded hesitantly. "She left a little while ago."

"She can't just leave. I told her last night that I owed her a favor. If she's gone, how am I supposed to repay it?" Liza stomped her foot. "No way. Go bring her back."

The maid pointed at herself incredulously. "Me?"

Liza huffed and brushed past her, rushing downstairs, where she spotted someone moving suspiciously at the door.

"Seamar City."

As soon as the words left his mouth, he regretted it, but it was too late to take it back.

"Seamar City? Can I come with you?"

"What? No. Why would you go?"

"Why not? I could use a vacation." Liza grabbed his arm and pleaded, "Take me with you. Pretty please?"

"Alright, I'll take you with me," Garland said. "But if you get shipped back like the last time, I can help you. I'm no match for Marion."

"Deal. I'll behave," Liza beamed, eagerly following Garland and even helping him with his luggage.

Garland watched Liza happily skipping ahead, a smile playing on his lips. He knew that if he snuck out alone, Bert would break his legs.
