Julius grimaced.

Given Taz’s age, Julius did not expect a threat from him. Taz needed to be taught a lesson.

However, Julius was not in the position to do so.

It was no secret that Samson adored his son.

Samson silenced and covered up Taz’s misconduct with a female student in college.

It was known within Sunrise’s investment community that Samson was ruthless and cold-blooded. Samson once ruined the life of a close partner.

Besides, Samson had the support of the Sunrise Lees.

Julius, despite holding a high position at Green Lantern Corporation, would think twice before crossing Samson.

He forced a laugh and said, “My nephew doesn’t know any better, Taz. I apologize on his behalf.”

Welt’s eyes widened.

He could not believe Julius would surrender to Taz.

Welt shouted peevishly, “He slapped me for no reason, Julius. Why should you apologize to him?”

Taz made a dirty look.

Julius turned around and gave Welt a slap.

Smack!

Welt put his hand over his cheek absently. With his emotions getting the better of him, he teared up.

“His father is Samson Hobbs. Your father would want to avoid conflict with him. You better shut up before you get your family in trouble,” Julius reprimanded Welt in a hushed tone.

Welt was scared out of his wits. He knew from Julius’ grave expression that he was not lying.

“Hurry up and apologize to Taz.”

Julius glared at Welt.

Despite his feelings, Welt said sorry to Taz in tears.

“Hmph! You were so cocky before. Who’s the wimp now?”

Taz took a dig at Welt in delight, but at least that was the end of the matter. Julius was relieved.

Then, Taz turned to Rose with a grin. “I invited you to join us for an outdoor barbecue. Have you given it any thought yet, Rose?”

His smile did little to cover his predatory gaze.

Rose was his prey.

He even tried to drag Welt away.

Julius could speak up for Welt, but he did not want to get caught up in a mess for someone irrelevant.

“You’re a bastard, Taz! My family will make you pay if you don’t take your hands off me.”

Seeing that the adults did nothing to stop him and that her friends’ hands were tied, Rose wailed in fear.

“Your family? Even God can’t stop me now.”

Taz guffawed in disdain and spat out the cigarette. His smelly puckered lips drew close to Rose’s face.

“Come here, Rose. Give me a kiss—”

Before he could finish, an ember shot through the darkness, past the crowd, and struck Taz in the face.

Sizzle!

As smoke rose, a foul stench of burning flesh filled the air.

“Ugh!”

Taz, jumping and screaming, released Rose to cover his face.
