Chapter 148: NOH YIHUN (4) novel Guide Me If You Dare
"YIHUN-AH, what did you do?"
"I think I almost killed the instructor," Yihun said, pushing the Esper instructor who had already lost consciousness to the ground. "It worked."
THUD.
The sound that the Esper instructor who fell to the ground made had caught everyone’s attention.
Now they’re all looking at me.
An awkward silence ensued.
But, thanks to the sudden "calmness," Yihun had the opportunity to observe the Espers who attacked them.
Their eyes are red, and they don’t seem to be in their right mind.
It was as if those Espers were on the verge of Rampaging, but also not.
Probably a forced Rampage?
Ah, whatever.
As long as it was a condition similar to a Rampage, then the Guides could deal with it.
"My Guide Hyungs and Noonas, fight back," Yihun said calmly while massaging his shoulders. "As Guides, we purify the Espers’ contaminated Mana by absorbing and storing it in our Cores. So, all you need to do is return their corrupted Mana back to them. Just control the flow of your Mana and aim at the Espers’ Cores. Easy, right?"
He was only answered by silence.
Unfortunately, Yihun didn’t get the chance to hear how his peers would respond since he suddenly fainted.
Right, my stamina is shit...

"CONGRATULATIONS, Yihun-ah~"
Yihun raised an eyebrow when Yosef Lee addressed him in a friendly manner.
When he woke up, he was already in the Infirmary Wing of the Lab.
It was called an infirmary, but it was actually like a small hospital located in the annex building.
Yihun’s room was like a standard private room.
And Yosef Lee, their "teacher," sat on the chair next to his bed.
"You’ve been promoted to the Captain of the E-Class Guides!"
Argh.
"I don’t have good leadership skills, sir," Yihun said bluntly. "Making me the captain of the E-Class is a bad mistake."
"Your "classmates" think otherwise, though," Yosef Lee said while peeling an apple. "Eleven of your peers followed your instructions that night. After you fainted, the eleven of them copied what you did and took care of the Rampaging trainee Espers who attacked your class. And they all fainted, too. The remaining Guides then called our attention."
"Is everyone safe?"
"The Espers you knocked down—"
"Sir, do I look like I care about those bastards who attacked my batchmates?" Yihun asked bluntly. "I’m asking about my peers."
Yosef Lee said, blinking. "Ah, my bad. Usually, in a situation where people are hurt, we ask about Espers first—"
"Sir, I acknowledge that Espers are the reason why we somehow regained normalcy in this messed up world. I don’t hate Espers— but I hate Espers who think they’re above everyone else," Yihun said, pausing for a moment. "I especially hate people who "nurture" those Espers as if they are gods."
"Is that your way of telling me to take accountability for what happened?"
"The instructor told us the higher-ups asked him to "tame" our class," Yihun said coldly. "And, so, that bastard brought Espers on a weird state to assault my peers. That bastard also said that they had to do that to show us that Guides belong to Espers."
"We recovered the footage and audio of their attack, so I’ll make sure they’ll be heavily punished, Yihun-ah."
"Did the higher-ups ask those bastards to attack us in order to scare us?"
"There must have been a misunderstanding. I assure you that your instructor acted on his own. The higher-ups have nothing to do with this. After all, we’re all devoted to nurturing the E-Class Guides."
Hmm.
If Yihun pressed the teacher for more information, he would be seen as being disobedient and stubborn again.
Hence, he decided to let go of his grudges.
For now.
"How are my peers doing?"
"None of them were sexually assaulted since you arrived early, but they were naturally traumatized by what happened," Yosef Lee said in a serious tone. "They’re currently receiving counseling from an excellent psychologist. Rest assured that we’re doing our best to take care of the victims. We’ll also make sure that something like this won’t happen again."
"I will make sure that Espers will respect Guides from now on."
"And you just said you didn’t have leadership skills."
"I don’t— but I feel responsible since I’m the reason why those Espers kept picking on us," Yihun said casually. "Sir, can I see my peers now?"
"Of course," Yosef Lee said cheerfully. "From now on, the Lab will pay extra attention to the E-Class’ Top 12."

I’m the only one who didn’t choose an English name.
Yihun started to wonder if he should change his name and pick an English one, too.
But then he realized that it was a hassle, so he didn’t bother.
"From now on, the Top 12 students will get special treatment. But we’ll have monthly evaluations, and that means the ranking can change anytime. So, do your best to hold on to your spot," Yosef Lee said cheerfully. That was his "opening speech" after gathering the Top 12 in the Suite— aka the floor where only the big shots running the Lab had access to. "Do you understand, kids?"
All twelve of them answered at the same time.
"Yes, sir."
"Very well," Yosef Lee said. "The twelve of you were chosen as the first batch of Top 12 because of how you were able to control the flow of your Mana. Moreover, you learned something that we planned on teaching you later on— I’m talking about Aggressive Guiding..." The teacher trailed off, and then he snapped his fingers. "Ah. You called it ’Reverse Guiding.’"
Everyone looked at Yihun then.
Aigoo.
"I don’t know how to explain it, but it’s something that I just figured out when I was so angry that I wanted to hurt the Espers who were assaulting my peers," Yihun explained. "I just called ’Reverse Guiding’ since the technique revolves around undoing the purification of the Mana we absorbed."
Yosef Lee smiled, amd then he pointed at Yihun with both hands. "Everyone, this is what we call a genius."
Argh.
So, I thought I was the first E-Class Guide they discovered.
As expected, I’m not special.
***
I DON’T think I’m improving.
Why is it so freaking hard to draw hands?
I want to make a webcomic series.
It’s been a year since the Lab "adopted" us, but we haven’t been dispatched yet.
Except the existence of E-Class Guides.
But there’s no way Noona wouldn’t be in the Top 12.
