Chapter 27: AFTERMATH

[An hour ago...]

The dormant Special Grade Gate that Ki Gayoon cleared alone was located in Bugaksan, the mountain that overlooked the former royal palace Gyeongbokgung, and the Blue House that President Cheol Kang was using as his residence.

Hence, the dormant Special Grade Gate was under the government’s jurisdiction.

But the President was too much of a wimp to ask his Espers to touch the Gate.

["As long as it’s not about to burst and cause a Dungeon Break, let’s leave it alone for now."]

That was President Cheol Kang’s order before.

Hence, that coward immediately agreed when Gayoon volunteered to clear it.

It only took him two days to find and finish the Dungeon Boss. He dedicated the third day to gathering materials that he could use for Beom-seok Constructions.

When Gayoon stepped out of the dungeon, he was greeted by an injured Baekho.

His right-hand man’s forehead was covered in bandages, and so was his chest.

Only Baekho remained among the Espers from his company who stayed there to guard the dungeon while Gayoon was there.

Ryu Sungbin probably attacked my men before entering the dungeon.

"Welcome back, Boss!" Baekho greeted Gayoon politely with a deep bow. "I’m glad you came out safely!"

Gayoon lit his cigarette. "Are you the only one who survived?"

Since it was Ryu Sungbin who attacked his men, he wouldn’t be surprised if only Baekho survived.

"No, sir!" Baekho responded, standing straight. "Esper Lee Sarang’s people came and treated our men! Esper Lee Sarang’s medical team then sent our men to the hospital."

Gayoon puffed smoke out of his mouth. "Was Ryu Sungbin alone when he attacked you?"

"Yes, Boss. We tried to stop Esper Ryu Sungbin from entering the dungeon, but we failed. I’m sorry."

"It’s alright. We didn’t expect Ryu Sungbin to ambush me."

That was why Gayoon didn’t bring his elite team.

He only brought Baekho and a few rookies.

Only S-Class Espers can enter Special Grade Gates, so I didn’t feel the need to bring my elite team. Who would have thought Ryu Sungbin would follow me to the dungeon and even try to kill me?

"Did you kill Esper Ryu Sungbin, Boss?"

"What do you think?"

Baekho shook his head. "Esper Lee Sarang arrived. She asked me to let her enter the dungeon to stop Esper Ryu Sungbin. To be honest, Esper Lee Sarang didn’t have to ask for my permission since I wouldn’t be able to stop her anyway. But it seems like she did it to prove that she isn’t on Esper Ryu Sungbin’s side."

Gayoon just nodded, confirming what Baekho said.

Since Lee Sarang and Ryu Sungbin hadn’t come out of the dungeon yet, and he knew why the two were still there.

Lee Sarang is probably healing Ryu Sungbin.

"Esper Ki Gayoon!"

Argh.

Gayoon just puffed smoke out of his mouth while raising an eyebrow at President Cheol Kang.

The President came with his security team.

Fortunately, Ho Jungwon isn’t with President Cheol.

"I heard what happened," President Cheol Kang said awkwardly while looking at Gayoon. "Just so you know, I didn’t know why Esper Ryu Sungbin suddenly entered the dungeon. But, as soon as I heard about it, I sent Esper Lee Sarang to—"

"Yes, and I don’t care," Gayoon said, cutting off the President rudely. "I already cleared the dungeon, so my job here is done."

The President smiled nervously. "About the dungeon rewards..."

"I took everything."

"What?"

"Why would I share the dungeon’s rewards with you when I cleared it alone?" Gayoon asked, smirking. "I’ll consider the dungeon rewards as compensation and hush-hush money for Ryu Sungbin’s attempt on my life."

President Cheol Kang’s face turned red from anger. "Esper Ki Gayoon!"

"WOW," Gayoon said while looking up at Noh Yuno’s house— at least, where it should have been. "It’s completely crushed."

The HoneyMoon Convenience Store remained intact, of course.

After all, my construction firm built that.

Out of all the establishments on that street, only the HoneyMoon Convenience Store remained standing after the recent Dungeon Break.

"Take a picture of this," Gayoon said to Baekho while walking towards the store. "Use the pictures as materials to promote Beom-seok Constructions."

The agents of the Awakened Police Department (APD) that was cleaning up the mess— aka the remaining carcasses of the monsters killed there— saluted at Gayoon as he walked past them to enter the HoneyMoon Convenience Store.

As expected of Moon Noa— even his staff members are impressive.

This is my design, so of course, it’s nothing less than perfect.
