Chapter Forty Two

"It’s my life! I have to live my life, not you. Whomever I want to marry is my choice! She’s like my sister, like Isra and Sahaan," He confidently stands in front of his father.

"Hammad! What tone are you using with your father?” Sahaan's voice bloom in the hall, everyone turns towards her who moves towards Hammad.

"Sahaan! They’re all forcing me to marry! And that too to Azra,” He tells her softly as if he will break down if they pressure him more.

Sahaan's eyes soften hearing his words. He is complaining to her as a child would to his mother. She steps forward and holds his cheek, lifting her head up.

"If you don’t want to get married, then no one will force you! That’s my promise to you.” Sahaan loudly promises him, everyone clearly hearing her.

Azra is shocked hearing Sahaan's words as she angrily leaves. Ahmed's heart tighten, seeing his sister breaking down.

"Sahaan, what are you-” Hammad’s father is interrupted by Sahaan.

"Uncle, what you are doing is wrong. Even our religion doesn’t allow us to force our decisions on our children! Let’s sit and talk." She explains softly as she makes him sit beside her other uncle.

"You were right, my daughter would've been never happy." Saying this to her he leaves smilingly.

"I should've first listen to what my son was saying to me right? I was wrong child! Thank you for making me understand and there is no shame in learning from our children right?" He smiles at her and pats her head who smiles at him back and nods.

"Now go and coax my aunt, you hurt her favorite son or else you will have to crash the couch tonight." She jokingly teases him who playfully glare at her and lightly hits her uninjured arm muttering "Naughty."

She just smiles at her uncle's retreating back, she moves towards the garden to pick some roses for her uncle who can use it convince his wife.
