A dark gleam flashed in Alaric's eyes. Seeing his barrier destroyed, he gathered a surge of black smoke in his palm and prepared to strike at Shannon.

Shannon nimbly sidestepped to avoid the attack. A flicker of doubt crossed her mind, but she wasted no time hurling three spirit-fixing talismans that flew at Alaric from three angles.

Alaric sneered and was about to dodge when Kai appeared out of nowhere. He charged at Alaric and shouted, "Shannon, I've got your back!"

Alaric's expression darkened as he dodged Kai's attack. But he couldn't make it in time as one of the talismans instantly mobilized him.

But before Kai could celebrate, the remaining black smoke whizzed forward and swept over the talismans, instantly burning them to ash.

Shannon, who seemed to have expected this, activated another thunder talisman the moment Alaric was immobilized. "Boom, with power and light!"

Shannon withdrew her malachite talisman and intended to seal the black smoke as she'd done with the fragmented system. But before she could act, the chaotic crowd ahead parted and revealed a golden light shimmering in the distance.
