In the quiet of the night, Hank sat on the couch in Scott's room and watched him preparing to sleep. "You're going to bed already?"

Scott turned to him. "Why not?"

Hank's persistent stare made him sit up. "If Shannon said she'll help you with the thief, she will. So, relax. Also, are you really sleeping with me tonight?"

"Why not?" Hank shot him a sidelong glance.

He initially assumed there was a mole in the villa, so even if he slept in his room, he would remain safe. Now that he discovered something supernatural was going on in his room, he dared not risk his safety.

He could've easily chosen one of the many guest rooms for refuge, but none offered the same sense of safety that Shannon's room provided.

Unfortunately, for him, she was still a girl and needed privacy. Otherwise, he would've gladly taken her floor.

Hence, he settled for the second best—Scott's room. Since his room was directly below Shannon's, she could react at first instance if anything happened.

Hank's tone of justified confidence made Scott proceed to lie on his bed. While pulling the blanket, he muttered, "It's not like this is the only room in the whole place. You have Zane on the third floor. Why do you have to make it crowded in here?"

Immediately, Hank shot him a glare. "Do you ever shut up?"

Scott pursed his lips and huffed. "And now, you're asking me to shut up. Lights off!"

The voice-activated light in the room flickered off, and the entire space was instantly engulfed in darkness. The next second, Hank switched them on again. "Hey, I'm not asleep yet. The lights stay on."

Scott wanted to burst into an exasperated laugh. He was ready to spring up and lash out at him when Hank asked himself, "Is Shannon asleep? Should I text her and remind her to stay awake?"

Speechless, Scott chimed in. "Trust me, Hank. If you text her and disrupt her sleep, not only will you get blocked, but you'll also kiss your chance of catching the thief goodbye."
