Apart from Scott, no one else paid much attention to the bet between Shannon and Hank. Even Hank himself forgot about it soon after.

Later that night, Hank went back to his room to take a shower. The main bedrooms in the Jensen residence each had their own private bathrooms, so the Jensens normally used their own en-suite bathrooms.

Hank stepped into his bathroom, turned on the shower, and began washing his hair. Suddenly, the showerhead ran dry. With his head covered in foam and his eyes shut, Hank reached for the knob and fiddled with it. Still, no water came.

He tutted in annoyance as he grabbed a nearby towel to wipe his eyes. He then went to the bathroom door and shouted, "Thomas! Why is there no water in my room?"

His voice was quite loud, but there no response came from outside. Thinking that the closed door might have muffled his voice, Hank shouted even louder, "Thomas! Stella! The water's out in my room! Get someone to check it!"

He thought his yell was loud enough to be heard downstairs. Under normal circumstances, someone should have come up by now, but there was only silence.

Not only did it seem like no one outside could hear him, but his room also felt eerily quiet. He couldn't even hear the occasional chirping of insects he normally heard at night.

Unsettled, he recalled Shannon saying "tonight" ominously earlier. He then remembered that she dabbled in supernatural things and had an affinity for them. As he thought of that, the hairs on his arm stood on end.

He couldn't afford to keep waiting for someone to come to his rescue. So, he wrapped the towel around himself and made his way out. With a head full of foam, he rushed out of the bathroom and headed to his bedroom door, shouting, "Mom! Thomas!"

His voice carried a note of panic. As he opened the door and stepped out, he suddenly heard the sounds from outside. His terrified shouts drew the attention of the other Jensens.

Scott stayed in the room adjacent to his. He was the first to open his door and come out. "What is it? What's wrong?"

He turned his head and was momentarily stunned. "Bloody hell!"
