No amount of knowing Alaric's vile intentions behind forming the Decaybringer Array could have prepared Shannon for the horrific sight before her. Fury surged within her, and her gaze hardened, growing ice-cold.

Instead of charging forward at first instance, she gazed at the center of the array.

At the center of the gathered blood was a shriveled male corpse. Unlike an ordinary decaying body, this one didn't seem to have simply rotted away. Instead, its bones had seemingly turned to dust, only for a fresh layer of flesh to have grown over it.

This had to be one of the many corpses Alaric had stolen and the body he prepared to refine into the Unmelting Bone. Although it wasn't completed yet, Shannon couldn't shake off the alarming feeling she felt.

Her grip tightened around her hazelwood sword. Just as she prepared to move, Alaric slowly emerged from the dark corner of the warehouse.

Staring menacingly at her, he said, "Shannon, I'm surprised you have found me before I even sought you."

"I wasn't looking for you." Shannon didn't want to banter with him. "I only followed the direction where the flies were gathering, and as it turns out, no matter how well the foul-smelling pit is concealed, you can't cover the stench."

It took a while for Alaric to realize she had compared him to a pile of dung. Immediately, he wore a vicious look and summoned a cloud of black smoke toward her. "You little brat. I'll use you to fuel the array!"

Faced with a new cloud of black smoke, Shannon decisively fished out a black thunder talisman. "Why don't you try?"

She swiftly chanted, "Heaven's thunder roars, earth's thunder groans, six heavens above, six hells below, I wield the decree, to sever the thunder's might, boom, with power and light!"

Alaric initially thought she was planning to use the same method as before—when she shattered his substitute—to deal with him. The moment she made her move, he quickly set up a protective barrier around himself.

To his surprise, as Shannon finished chanting the final word of the incantation, her hand twisted, and a thunder talisman shot straight toward the male corpse at the center of the array!

Compared to Alaric, the future Unmelting Bone before her was much more dangerous. She had to destroy it before the array was completed!
