Rachel was momentarily stunned when she saw Shannon, but then her eyes lit up. This was the first time she was so happy to see Shannon.

"Shannon!"

In her excitement, Rachel tried to get up, forgetting that she had a broken leg and a sprained waist. The movement made her face contort in pain.

Sheila looked at Shannon with a wary expression.

They had gone to great lengths to get her to help, but she had ignored them. Why did she show up on her own now?

"Why are you here?" Sheila asked.

Shannon gave her a sideways glance. "Didn't you invite me here?"

As she spoke, Francis and Connor arrived, too. Compared to the last time Shannon saw them, both had sustained new injuries. All of them had clearly been afflicted by a spell of bad luck.

Shannon glanced at the faint black fog still lingering around them and came to understand something. Yet, she didn't comment on it. She walked into the room and got straight to the point.

"I'm here today for two reasons. First, I can deal with the malevolent spirit clinging to Rachel, but I'll only do it once. Whatever trouble she gets into in the future is none of my business—"

Before Shannon could finish, Rachel hastily agreed, "Just save me this time. As long as you help me, I'll still consider you my sister in the future!"

Shannon's expression soured upon hearing this. She resisted the urge to turn and leave.

"As if I'd want to keep being your sister! If you want me to save you, don't ever address me in that disgusting way again. I'm no longer a member of your family."

Shannon was as merciless as she had been at the banquet.

Francis' eyes flashed with a hint of coldness, but they quickly returned to normal.

He stated plainly, "We'll agree to that as long as you help Rachel this time."
