Shannon was still mulling over what Ziva had said in the restaurant when Caleb abruptly blocked her path.
She looked up with an icy gaze, only to hear Caleb say, "You know, I thought you invited Ziva to dinner because you felt guilty, but clearly I was wrong!
"You knew Ziva has scars on her face, and she's always been sensitive and self-conscious. Why did you force her to remove her mask and show you her face?"
If Ziva hadn't removed her mask, she wouldn't have been injured by the flying glass shards. Though the new injury was minor compared to the existing scars, Caleb was convinced that tonight's misfortune was entirely Shannon's fault.

"She didn't say anything! I'm just asking on my own! Ziva is my friend, and you have no right to hurt her with me!" Calen retorted.
Shannon furrowed her brows slightly. But she kept her patience and countered, "Then why do you think I wanted to see her face?"
Before Caleb could reply, she continued, "Don't you think her voice and eyes bear a striking resemblance to Cecily's?"
This was meant to be her final reminder, but Caleb had already been led astray. His eyes were filled with doubt and dissatisfaction as he questioned, "So, you're targeting her because she reminds you of Cecily?
"Shannon, I understand you hate Cecily, but you can't just go after innocent people who happen to resemble her. What's the difference between what you're doing and how Cecily used to act?"
Shannon was utterly speechless. She stared at Caleb for a long moment before realization hit her. Then, she decided it wasn't worth arguing further and turned to leave.
Before she could step away, Caleb once again blocked her path at the gate. He wasn't going to let her into the house where Hector and the others would inevitably side with her.
