Chapter 111 

Lily instinctively wiped her hands on her apron and quickly walled to the living room to grab her phone. 

She pressed her finger to her lips, signaling for Maryanne to stay quiet, and stepped onto the balcony to take the call. 

“Where are you?” Xavier’s nonchalant voice came through the phone, yet tinged with possessiveness. 

Lily curled a strand of hair around her finger, feeling measy. “Working overtime.” 

Xavier let out a single syllable through his nose. “Mm. 

There was a long pause. It was so quiet that Lily thought the call had been disconnected. She glanced at the screen, confirming that the call 

ongoing 

“If there’s nothing else, I’ll hang up” 

“What time will you be back? Xavier asked again. “I’ll come pick you up 

Pick her up? Lily had never imagined she would receive such treatment, 

She responded abruptly, “What?” 

“Come downstairs in half an hour.” Xavier’s voice now had an edge of impatience. 

But Lily replied, “No need.” 

It was the first time he had taken the initiative and the first time she had refused. 

I was still 

“No need?” Xavier’s tone was filled with disbelief, followed by a mocleng laugh. “Fine. Figure out how to get back on your own then.” With that, be hung 

ups 

He felt a slight pang of frustration. When Emma had told him she was working late, he’d immediately thought of picking her up. He couldn’t believe she had rejected his otler, 

His frustration quickly turned to mockery. Was she trying to get him to rush to pick her up? Well, he wouldn’t give her that satisfaction. She might be regretting her decision right now. 

With that thought, he grabbed his car keys and left the office, driving straight home. 

Half an hour later, he arrived at his destination. As Xavier got out of the car, his phone rang. He pulled it from his pocket as he walked up the steps. 

He suddenly stopped with just two steps in, his gaze turning dark and complicated. 

On the phone screen were clear photos of Lily getting into Terence’s car, followed by images of them entering the Bayview Gardens. 

The photos even showed Lily cooking in the kitchen, with Terence standing nearby, clearly visible through the window. 

His grip on the phone tightened in an instant, his knuckles turning white as his jaw clenched. He nearly ground his teeth to dust, 

No wonder she didn’t want him to pick her up–she was guilty, and that guilt was evident! 

After hanging up, Lily couldn’t shake the uneasy feeling in her chest. She returned to the kitchen, where Terence had already finished the last dish. 

“You can start eating.” Terence said, removing his apron and placing the dishes on the table. 

Maryanne was sitting at the table with her lips crossed, watching them while chatting away. 

“Did Xavier not rush you to go back!” she asked. 

Lily placed two bowls of soup on the table, shaking her head. “He said he’d come pick me up, but I refused.” 

She wondered if Xavier had figured out her lie. But if he had, he wouldn’t have called her so calmly.
