"Who needs that chance?"

Lily quickly wrapped the towel around herself, her face flushed with anger.

Her eyes were tinged with a faint fury as she glared at Xavier, looking at him like an enemy.

Last night, in the company's lounge, he had just been with Sarah. How could he so casually come to her like this, as if nothing had happened?

She couldn't understand Xavier's intentions. If he liked Sarah so much, why didn't he just divorce her and marry her instead?

Did he enjoy sneaking around and playing both sides?

Countless possibilities flooded Lily's mind, but no matter what the possibility was, she could not accept Xavier touching her again.

Xavier's neck and shoulders tensed, veins standing out, and his whole presence exuded both wildness and sensuality.

His hands pressed against the wall behind Lily, his posture like a lion about to pounce.

If Lily angered him further, he could devour her whole in an instant.

"Xavier, do you want to have sex with me because you don't want to divorce me?"

Lily's voice trembled, her heart tightening.

She wasn't sure why she asked the question.

She had thought she was trying to provoke Xavier into mocking her and then letting her go.

But involuntarily, a strange hope stirred inside her—the hope that Xavier would admit that he didn't want a divorce.

She hoped that he had just made a mistake... and that he would cut ties with Sarah, wanting to spend the rest of his life with her.

"Does divorcing you and having sex with you have anything to do with one another?" Xavier's fingers, gripping the wall, turned white as his knuckles clenched.

Lily didn't hesitate. "Yes, it does!"

The fire in Xavier's eyes began to subside. He smirked coldly, "Stop dreaming, Lily. You've crossed the line!"

In the two years of their marriage, he had never seen Lily play such childish games.

It was the first time, and her plan was really stupid.

Someone like her, who couldn't even understand the subtlety of a game of seduction, was bound to fail.

He was aware of his own needs, but he could control himself.

This time, he wasn't going to let Lily get away with this; she would only realize her mistake after it was too late!

With that, he turned and walked out of the room.

The door to the bedroom swung open, and the fresh night air swept in, chasing away the heat that had built up in the room.

Lily felt as though she had been reborn, taking deep breaths, trying to calm the tumultuous emotions inside her.

But amidst the swirl of feelings, there was no sense of relief from the upcoming divorce.

Later that night, Xavier drove away.

The sound of the Maybach's engine echoed through the quiet mountains, and Lily lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep.

Her phone rang with a message from the same unknown number.

She opened her phone and saw a photo.

It was a picture of Xavier and Sarah dining together at a fine dining restaurant.

Xavier's face was refined and handsome, and Sarah looked happy and radiant. They were the perfect match.

The time stamp on the corner of the photo read 6:00 pm—just before Xavier had returned to the Fulton Manor.

Lily stared at the picture of Xavier's relaxed, effortless side profile.

She had never seen the warm, gentlemanly version of Xavier.

She sat on the edge of the bed, pulling her knees close to her chest, and spent the whole night wide awake.

The next morning, Lily left before Edith woke up.

If Edith had woken up, she would have asked about Xavier's late-night departure.

It would have been impossible to explain it away with work excuses, so Lily decided to escape.

She took an Uber and after nearly two hours of traveling, finally arrived at Maryanne's apartment.

She stepped in, took off her shoes, and walked toward the living room—only to stop abruptly.
