Tears silently slid down Lily’s cheek and dropped onto her shirt. Snapping back to reality, she turned her head and quickly wiped away the streaks. 

What was she holding onto? Being his secret lover? Was Sarah really suffering when Lily kept her relationship with Xavier private, unable to be seen with him in public? 

Was there truly any injustice in that? At least Sarah still had his private affection, his endless indulgence. 

And her? She, the legitimate Mrs. Fulton, had nothing but a certificate. Wasn’t she the one who should feel wronged? 

“We shouldn’t be overhearing other people’s private matters. Let’s go,” Nadia said, oblivious to the tension. 

She tugged at Lily’s arm and bent down to tiptoe out. Lily allowed herself to be pulled along 

When Sarah cried, someone was there to comfort her and wipe away her tears. But for her? She only deserved to cry in silence. 

As they turned the corner, just before they reached the stairs, a voice suddenly called from behind. 

“Ms. Cooper, Ms. Joyner.” It was Sarah. 

Nadia immediately stopped, and Lily had no choice but to halt as well. Behind her, two intense gazes fell upon her, and her blood seemed to freeze. Without even looking back, she could already imagine the arrogant expression on Sarah’s face. She couldn’t help but wonder if Sarah herself had set this situation up. 

Was this her revenge for that night when she answered Xavier’s call? The pressure of Sarah’s dominance was suffocating. 

Anyone who knew about their tangled relationships would undoubtedly feel the tense air around Sarah. The only one who was unaware was Nadia, who hadn’t sensed anything 

Xavier seemed just as oblivious as well. He stood shoulder to shoulder with Sarah, his arm casually draped over his black suit jacket. 

His gaze was calm as he nodded slightly at Lily and Nadia as a simple greeting 

“Mr. Fulton,” Nadia quickly nodded, “sorry to interrupt your meal. We arrived early!” 

“No problem,” Xavier replied. “We’re just finishing up. You two, go ahead” 

Xavier stepped out from behind Sarah, exchanging a brief glance with her before he left. 

As he passed by Lily, the sleeve of his jacket brushed against her fingers. She immediately recoiled as though her hand had touched a burning iron. 

He walked away without a glance back
