Sarah, unable to control her anger at Lily’s stubbornness, snapped, “If you have the time to play the fawning wife, maybe you should go and take proper care of your brother. Otherwise, you will regret it!” 

“My brother?” Lily’s heart sank. A sense of foreboding crept up to her, and her expression grew serious. “What do you mean?” 

“Nothing Xavier’s waiting for me. Goodlive.” Sarah brushed her hair back from her forehead and gave Lily a meaningful look before she turned around 

to leave.

Lily stood there and watched Sarah disappear around the corner. She then turned and threw the thermal food container into the trash can and drove straight to the hospital 

She couldn’t shake off the uneasiness and had to go to the hospital to check on Hayden. Then only could she feel at ease. Her worry for Hayden completely overshadowed the misery that Xavier caused 

At 10:00 pm, Lily arrived at Jadeford Hospital. She parked her car and headed straight for Hayden’s hospital room. 

At that hour, the doctors had already gone home, and the night shift nurses had dozed off at their stations. 

Lily tread quietly through the empty hallways and stopped in front of Hayden’s room. 

His nurse was already lying down in the caregiver’s bed facing the room door. Lily stood on tiptoes and leaned to the left to get a better look, but she could only see half of the bed. Hayden’s legs were slightly apart on the mattress. 

It was calm and peaceful. Nothing was out of the ordinary. 

Lily sighed in relief. Her hand rested on the door handle for a few seconds before she finally let go and turned to leave. Maybe it was just a careless remark of Sarah’s, she thought. 

Although she hadn’t had dinner, Lily had no appetite after all the fuss. She couldn’t sleep either. 

She took a shower after she returned home. She sat down with her laptop and began preparing for the second round of the competition. Eventually, she fell asleep on the bay window. 

When she woke up, her body ached terribly from the uncomfortable position. She opened her eyes to realize it was already 710a.m. 

Perhaps she was too tired that her biological clock wasn’t working. Lily skipped her breakfast as she was running late, so she just quickly changed and drove straight to Lupler. 

With ten minutes to spare before the working hour started, Lily arrived at her desk on time. She saw Terence’s good news when she took her phone out of her pocket. 

He wrote, “Lily, Dr. Blackwood had agreed to take over Hayden’s case. He just messaged me and said he has officially discussed the transfer with Dr. Dawson. If you have time, we can visit the hospital together and discuss with Dr. Blackwood.” 

Terence hadn’t messaged Lily the night before because he knew she was with Xavier. He didn’t want to cause her trouble. 

Now that he’d seen her arrive at the office, he couldn’t wait to tell her the good news. Lily’s initial bad mood turned better in an instant. But, she didn’t want to trouble Terence any further.
