Labe was surprised when she received the form. “Why does it take a month?” 

“It’s a national regulation,” the staff member explained briefly. 

This was her first time dealing with a divorce, and she had no idea about these regulations. 

She instinctively looked toward Xavier. She had hoped he might use his connections to get the divorce certificate today. 

The wait felt long and painful, and she didn’t want to endure this feeling any longer. But she saw him quickly filling out the form and signing his name, pushing the paperwork forward. 

In the end, his cold paze met hers. 

The staff member sighed and softly said, “Miss, if you regret it, you still have a month to reconsider. Please don’t delay the next person.” 

Lily’s eyes were clear, and her long lashes fluttered twice before she lowered her gaze and continued filling out the form. She didn’t try to explain anything 

After finishing, she pushed the form back, took her marriage certificate and ID, and stood up, following Xavier out. 

The cold winter sun shone brightly. As they exited the courthouse, Lily was blinded by the intense sunlight. 

Shar stood on the steps, watching Xavier walk toward his Maybach. The last time they divorced, he hadn’t even given her a car worth over 200 thousand. 

Now, with his newly bought million–dollar Maybach, he certainly wouldn’t give it to her. 

After Xavier got into the car and started the engine, preparing to reverse, Lily suddenly ran down the steps. 

He slammed on the brakes. She knocked on the window. He pursed his lips and lowered the window by three inches, not even glancing at her. 

“Do you regret it now? It’s too late!” His voice was cold and heavy as the words came through the window. 

“I… can you give me a ride? I need to go back and pack my things.” Lily thought that after the divorce, they would have no more ties as a couple. Xavier had been cold and harsh with her, and she didn’t need to explain anything 

“No,” he said, his lips barely moving 

She was just looking for an excuse to get into his car, hoping for a chance to beg for his forgiveness. He saw right through her clumsy scheme. Upon hearing, this, Lily stepped back, clearing the way for him to drive away 

Tas month would be a cooling off period before the divorce, not the honeymoon phase of a new marriage. They should keep their distance. With that thought, she took a taxi from the courthouse to return and gather her things. 

She expected Xavier to return and keep an eye on her, but he didn’t. She packed her things alone, took another taxi, and left. 

Just like last time, she only took her belongings, leaving everything that wasn’t hers behind. 

The house at Bayview Gardens hadn’t been vacated yet, so she moved back there. She thought to herself that she would never go back this time.
