As soon as Lily finished speaking, Hazel stood up, towering over her.

“Lily, are you crazy? Which man is perfect? It’s fine as long as he didn’t bring someone home and didn’t threaten your position as Mrs. Fulton. Wh you set your standards so high?” 

Hazel’s anger flared up quickly. It was so quick that Lily was stunned, staring at her. When did asking one’s husband not to cheat become an unreasonable request? 

“Look at our family situation, and look at yours. You managed to marry Xavier because of the Joyner family’s luck. This is a rare opportunity, yet you’re throwing it all away? If your dad finds out, he might just kill you!” 

Harel was furious. It was as though Lily had committed an unforgivable crime 

“Let him kill me then,” Lily said softly, lowering her head to blow on the cup of peppermint tea. The steam rose, blurring her vision. 

“What good would that do now?” Hazel sat back down and tried to find a solution. “Didn’t Xavier try to stop you from getting a divorce?” 

Lily hesitated for a moment, then shook her head. “No, he didn“L” 

Hazel was ready to say something else. But she held back when she saw Lily’s silence and the redness in her eyes. 

Xavier was such an outstanding man–Lily must have loved him deeply and couldn’t bear to part with him. They might need a way to resolve things. “Alright. Let’s just finish our tea and get some rest,” Hazel suggested 

“Mm.” Lily didn’t notice her odd tone and just wanted to end the conversation as quickly as possible. She didn’t want to hear any more of Hazel’s humiliating lectures

the outburst from Hazel, Lily had lost her appetite for dinner. The two of them each drank the peppermint tea and went to their respective rooms. Hazel immediately called Bobby, telling him all about Lily’s divorce and the current situation. 

“This is outrageous!” As expected, Bobby was furious. 

“Honey, don’t get too upset. I have a way to get them back together, but I need your help. Can you get Xavier’s schedule for me?” 

Not knowing if Lily was pregnant yet, she naturally wanted to find a way to make them reconcile first. So, she wasn’t too concerned about how much property Lily might get from the divorce.

The next morning, it was the Fulton family’s physical exam day. What pleased Hazel even more was that Lily had developed a fever. She didn’t need to figure out how to trick Lily into going to the hospital. 

Lily hadn’t been feeling well lately, so Hazel thought it would be a good time for a full check–up. 

However, the doctor advised against doing the exam while she had a fever, as the results wouldn’t be accurate. Instead, they recommended an IV drip to help her recover. So, Lily had to start with the IV. 

“Lily, I’ll go get you some breakfast,” Hazel said, seizing the opportunity to head to the check–up department. 

The Fulton family had dedicated doctors for their physical exams, so waiting in line was unnecessary. Being busy with work, Xavier finished his exam first and was preparing to head to the office.
