Whether the money was a lot or a little, it wouldn’t end up in Lily’s hands, so she didn’t care. 

She left the hospital and headed straight for the bus station. However, Hazel grabbed her arm. “I can’t stand buses. Let’s take a taxi!” 

Before Lily could respond, Hazel had already pulled her to the side of the road to hail a cab. 

A Maybach was parked around the street corner. The car window rolled slightly, revealing sharp eyes that fixed their gaze on the outside. 

When Lily and Hazel got into a taxi, the window went back up, and the car sped off toward Nova Group. The contracts that had been burned were being re -signed by the collaborators. 

However, due to the friendly nature of the business relationship, Nova Group adjusted each contract, reducing the profits by a small fraction. 

in total, the loss was over a hundred million. The board members were dissatisfied and had been looking for ways to make trouble these past few days. 

The signed contracts were supposed to be kept at the company, but Sarah hadn’t properly managed them, which was a dereliction of duty. 

Now, she was at the center of a storm. For the past few days, she had been staying low. One of the reasons she was laying low was because of the so- called photos Lily had mentioned 

She repeatedly thought back and realized that, apart from the face–to–face confrontation, she had not provided any solid evidence. So, what were these photos Lily spoke of? 

“Ms. Lynde, Mr. Fulton wants to see you.” The secretary knocked on the door and popped her head in. 

Sarah snapped out of her thoughts. “I understand.” 

She picked up a small mirror from the desk and checked her makeup before standing up.

“Xavier, did you need something?” 

“All your performance bonuses for this year are canceled. Your position at Nova Group is temporarily suspended. You’ll only be responsible for the Avelon Designs Competition,” Xavier said, tapping his fingers lightly on the desk. 

He had no choice but to comply with the board’s request and impose a corresponding punishment. 

She felt a sinking feeling in her chest. “Xavier, you can’t bl 

can’t blame me for this. How could I know Lily would burn the house down?” 

“Burning the house is her problem. Storing the contracts improperly is your fault,” he replied sternly, his expression unyielding. He was always 

meticulous 

“How are you going to punish Lily?” she asked, unwilling to accept the situation. 

His frown deepened. “The house belongs to her. If she wants to burn it, that’s her choice. What’s the point of punishing her?” 

“But aren’t you two getting a divorce?”

He furrowed his brows again, adding, “This is none of your business!” 

He was clear about the situation–Lily burning the house was wrong, but that was something he would deal with himself. No one else needed to step in. Moreover, he was discussing official business–Sarah’s dereliction of duty.
