Lily overheard every word of the phone call.

“I’ll handle it,” she said, clearing her throat and attempting to button up her blouse. But with so many buttons missing, it was impossible to fasten it properly. 

Xavier climbed off her and tucked his shirt back into his pants. “There are a few of your nightgowns in the walk–in closet.” 

“I’ll go with you,” Lily replied without hesitation. “Dr. Blackwood is Hayden’s primary doctor. His health is crucial to Hayden’s condition. I need to see what happened and check if tonight’s treatment will continue.” 

She stood up, trying to gather her blouse, but it clung tightly to her, revealing be

Suddenly, a black shirt was thrown toward her, and she instinctively caught it. Xavier had tossed her one of his shirts. 

“Put it on. Later, go back and get your stuff.”
