The shards shattered, and a sharp pain shot through Lily’s ankle, but she couldn’t care less. She furrowed her brow at the sight of Hazel surrounded by the broken pieces. 

“Stay there, and don’t move. I’ll grab the broom..” 

“I’ll do it,” Terence interrupted firmly. “Lily, stay still. I’ll handle this.” 

He quickly retrieved the broom, sweeping away the shards near Lily’s feet before moving to clean up around Hazel. 

Hazel raised an eyebrow. “Terence, you seem quite familiar with Lily’s place. I’ve been here for days and didn’t even know where the broom was kept.” 

Terence paused briefly before replying casually, “I’ve been here once before with Maryanne. Thave a good memory.” 

“Younger people and their sharp memories,” Hazel said with a polite laugh. 

When Terence finished cleaning up, she turned to Lily. “Well, I won’t get in your way. You can handle things yourself. “With that, she retreated to the guest bedroom 

Maryanne watched Hazel leave from the sofa. She pursed her lips. “I thought she came to take care of you, but she’s acting like she owns the place.” 

She didn’t even know where the grill was and managed to break a couple of bowls. It wasn’t that she was comfortable talking from the sidelines. By all rights, this was Lily’s personal matter, and it had nothing to do with her. 

But Maryanne couldn’t stand it. How difficult was it for Lily right now? shouldn’t Hazel feel sorry for her daughter’s hardships and come over to cook or clean up? Instead, she held the bowls with her fingers lightly curled, looking nothing like someone who could handle hard work 

“Maryanne,” Terence said sharply, “she’s an elder. Show some respect.” 

Maryanne bit her lip and rolled her eyes but said nothing further. 

Lily remained quiet as she prepared the grill, placed it on the table, and organized the ingredients Terence had brought. 

*Lily, wait a moment.” Terence’s eyes narrowed as he noticed the small cut on her anide. 

Lily followed his gaze and saw a thin trickle of blood. The wound was minor, and It barely stung. She hadn’t even realized she’d been hurt. 

“Do you have a first–aid kit?” Terence guided her to sit on the sofa and asked. 

Lily pulled out the iodine and cotton swabs from the coffee table drawer. “Luckily, 1 stocked some up last time. It’s not a big deal. I can handle it myself.” 

But Terence gently took them off her hands. “Let me. We need to make sure there aren’t any shards left.” 

As he prepared to clean the wound, he glanced at Maryanne. “Go take care of the dishes 

“Oh.” Maryann was about to approach to offer some concern but obediently shuffled into the kitchen. 

“It’s unlikely there are any shards left,” Lily said as she tried to downplay the injury. 

Before she could say more, Terence carefully placed her foot on his knee. The sudden chill startled her, and she instinctively tried to pull back 

“My hands are cold. Just bear with it,” he said calmly, releasing her ankle briefly before adding, “Don’t move.”
