Her dark eyes trembled slightly as she took a deep breath, like someone coming back to life. Her attention slowly returned to her surroundings.

She had walked far from the Business district. She turned toward the bus station on the right and transferred to the bus that would take her home.

An hour and a half later, She finally arrived home. The small apartment was simple, but the warmth of the heating was comforting.

She took off her coat, made a cup of hot coffee, and sat down with her computer, burying herself in her studies.

In the afternoon, Hayden called. "Lily, the news online is still spreading. How... how are you holding up?"

"I'm fine," Lily answered, her tone flat.

Hayden pressed on, asking, "What about the divorce?"

Lily's throat tightened, and she whispered, "It's done."

"Really?" Hayden sighed with relief. "Lily, you're amazing! You'll meet someone better soon! I even have some classmates I could introduce you to…"

"I'm focused on preparing for the competition. We can talk about relationships later," Lily cut him off. "Don't worry about me. I'll take care of myself."

Hearing her calm voice, Hayden figured she must have come to terms with everything and was no longer as upset about Xavier.

They chatted a bit longer before ending the call. Then, Lily put down her phone and returned to her studies.
