“Lily!” Landon tugged at Lily’s sleeve under the table. “Mr. Fulton is much busser than you and has been waiting for quite some time. You should at least offer a drink as an apology. That’s the least you can do! Come on, let me pour it for you.” 

Landon got to his feet and walked around the table to pour her a glass of champagne. He seized the opportunity to reprimand her in a low voice, “That’s Mr. Fulton. Do you think it’s wise to disrespect him? Are you trying to make things harder for our store? If you keep this up, Nadia can forget about closing the deal either!” 

The champagne glass before Lily was filled with pale yellow liquid to the brim as streams of effervescent bubbles rose from the bottom. 

It was much stronger than the champagne she had shared with Maryanne last night. 

After filling the glass, Landon picked it up and handed it to her “Mr. Fulton, Lily is young and inexperienced. Please forgive her!” 

He then poured himself a glass. “Let me join her in a roast to you. Mr. Fulton, thank you for gracing us with your presence today.” 

Landon had a knack for smooth talk as he had been a store manager for many years.

He took the lead while Lily simply tagged along and stood behind him. She planned to down a glass of champagne once the pleasantries we 

Xavier was straightforward enough to show him respect. “Mr. Ashford, there’s no need for such formalities. Your drink will be counted separately.” 

With that said, Landon had no choice but to clink glasses with Xavier. He then downed his drink before returning to his seat. 

He couldn’t help Lily, yet he hoped she wouldn’t hold up the process. “Lily, apologize to Mr. Fulton now.” 

Xavier held his champagne glass with his well–defined hand and rested one foot on the chair leg. He leaned slightly to the side while waiting for her to step forward. However, Lily stood there without moving an inch 

Nadia set down her phone and chimed in to ease the tension “Mr. Fulton, Lily is still young. Her family probably worries about her attending this kind of social event. It’ll be difficult to explain to her husband if she gets too drunk..” 

She intended to help, but her words only made Xavier’s expression grow more intriguing 

Ataint and enigmatic smile curled on his lips, while his sharp gaze seemed to see right through Lily. 

“There’s nothing that needs explaining.” Lily pulled out her chair and walked over to Xavier. She was about to clink glasses with him before she noticed his glass was empty. 

Seeing her finally concede, Landon breathed a sigh of relief and reminded her, “Lily, pour Mr. Fulton a glass first” 

Ly had no choice but to set down her glass reluctantly before she picked up the champagne bottle and poured it for Xavier. 

She wore a white blouse and a pair of straight black slacks. Her shirt collar was buttoned up tightly, revealing her slender neck with a few stray strands of hair falling delicately to obscure it 

There was a faint bruise on her fair wrist. She must have got it somewhere. Xavier couldn’t help but stare at her intently without even realizing it However, Lily could feel his gaze lingering on her. She frowned but kept his eyes away from him. She picked up her glass again after filling his glass.
