“How could Xaver talk to Ms. Lande like that if nothing had happened?” 

In the past, Sarah thought being “Mrs. Fulton” was a glamorous identity

As the meeting room emptied, She slowly stood up and walked out.

Lily was unaware that she was being watched. She hadn’t left her apartment for two to three days, focusing entirely on her design work. 

It wasn’t until the fourth day, when the food supplies she had stored with Hayden were almost gone, that she finally headed to a supermarket 1.2 miles away to buy groceries. 

This time, she was alone, so she bought less than last time. She couldn’t carry much, so she bought less

She wore the latest trendy brand with a Cartier bracelet on her wrist. In contrast, Lily wore a plain black long coat and a baseball cap, appearing simple and modest. 

The two of them locked eyes for a couple of seconds. Lily let go of the carrot, picked another one, and turned to leave. 

“What’s the matter?” Sarah spoke up. “Are you afraid of seeing Xavier?” 

How ridiculous 

Lily thought that Xavier really suited Sarah–he was always showing up out of nowhere, saying the most absurd things. She ignored Sarah and let the attendant weigh the vegetables 

Sarah said casually, “Don’t worry, he won’t come looking for you. Last time, he pushed me aside for you, and I was really upset. He promised me he wouldn’t come to see you again for awhile.”

“Thanks” Lily replied, accepting the weighed carrots from the attendant. She tossed them into her shopping cart and headed for the checkout. 

Sarah followed relentlessly “He also said that as long as I stop being angry, I can do whatever I want.” 

Lily’s hand, pushing the cart, suddenly froze, her fingertips turning pale. 

She stopped and turned to look at Sarah. “So, are you here to vent your anger on me today?”
