As soon as Maryanne saw the wound on Lily's face and the bandage on her right hand, tears streamed down her cheeks.

Jostling Hazel aside, she wheeled Lily into the ward.

Hayden was about to trail after them when Terence stopped him.

"I know you're worried about her," he whispered. "But she needs rest right now."

As long as Hayden was around, Hazel and Bobby would linger here too. That was precisely why Lily refused to let Hayden stay.

"I…" Hayden glanced back at Hazel, who was still eagerly waiting for him. "In that case, Terence, please take care of my sister. One day is all I need to deal with my family affairs. Once I'm done, I'll come over."

Terence nodded, and Hayden left with Hazel. Then, he entered the ward and stood at the end of Lily's bed.

"That bastard, Bruce! He's not even showing an ounce of respect for our family!"

Maryanne had been trying to reach Lily since last night, but to no avail. She'd thought Lily was busy with work, so she'd rushed over to Lily's place with breakfast this morning, only to realize that no one answered her door even after her frantic knocks.

Lily's neighbor had told her that something had happened last night, so she'd immediately contacted Terence.

After investigating, they'd finally discovered something terrible had happened.

Seeing how badly Lily was injured, Maryanne swerved toward Terence and barked, "Terence, you have to tear the Thompson family to shreds!"

"Xavier is investigating this now," Lily quickly intervened. "He'll deal with the Thompsons."

In fact, he was probably dealing with them now. She hadn't asked him about how he was going to deal with them, though.

"As if we need him!" Maryanne burst into a fit of rage. "If it hadn't been for his tantrums, things wouldn't have ended up this way!"

"How's your hand?" Terence asked, shifting the topic. He didn't want to talk about Xavier anymore.
