Chapter 57 

Having taken care of Xavier for two years, Lily was very familiar with his physical condition. He had been neglecting his diet before they married and had developed a severe gastric problem. Due to his gastric issue, he ended up being hospitalized in the second month of their marriage. He could only eat liquid food and spent more than a month recovering, 

He didn’t lose any weight, but Lily, who had been tirelessly taking care of him, lost ten pounds. Thanks to her care, his stomach problems never returned afterward. “Mrs. Fulton?” Timothy said after realizing she hadn’t responded. 

Jolted out of her reverie, Lily regained her composure. The complicated look on her face cleared, and her eyes became sharp and focused. 

“I’m not home,” she said. 

“When will you be back then?” Timothy asked, despite knowing the answer. 

“Mr. Synder, I’m divorcing Xavier. I won’t be coming back,” Lily stated. 

She enunciated each word clearly, as if she were also reminding herself while answering Timothy’s question. 

Her heart, which had started racing upon hearing Xavier’s poor state, throbbed painfully in her chest. 

A flurry of noise echoed from Timothy’s end. After a series of chaotic sounds, he shouted, “Mrs. Fulton, Mr. Fulton is vomiting blood!” 

“How much did he drink?” Lily sprang to her feet. “Take him to the hospital!” 

“My car broke down! Please come back quickly!” Timothy said frantically. “Even if you’re getting a divorce, you still have to meet Mr. Fulton in person. I… Mr. Fulton! Mr. Fulton!” Amidst the chaos, the call was abruptly cut off. 

Silence enveloped the large office, but Lily’s heart was in turmoil. 

Xavier’s fate didn’t concern her, right? She wouldn’t go back. Still, her actions belied her thoughts. 

She began instinctively packing up her things. Once she gathered her things, she dashed out. 

Along the way, Lily kept convincing herself that the last sentence Timothy said was right. She should indeed discuss the divorce with Xavier in person. 

She thought Xavier should’ve received the divorce papers by now, yet he hadn’t contacted her. She also didn’t know whether he’d signed them. It was better to meet, at least. 

He was now drunk… but he’d eventually sober up. Perhaps out of gratitude for her taking care of him, he might actually agree to the divorce. 

She searched for countless excuses to mask her concern for Xavier. 

An hour later, Lily arrived at Jadeview Villa, 

Timothy’s car was parked in the middle of the yard, and the villa’s door was wide open. All the lights inside were on. 

As soon as she stepped into the villa, the strong smell of alcohol hit her. She hadn’t been back for a few days, and the familiar surroundings suddenly flooded her with memories she had buried deep within her heart. 

Ignoring the tempest of emotions within her, she strode upstairs. 

The first floor was empty, but the door to the bedroom she shared with Xavier on the second floor was slightly ajar. 

“Mr. Fulton…” Timothy’s voice echoed from the room. 

Lily approached their bedroom and saw Timothy holding a warm towel in his hands, with a basin of warm water at his feet.
