Yelena was right about one thing – she might really be mentally ill.

Kallum came back to the scene of her sewing herself up, and the anesthesia in his hands was pointless now.

He could tell that Calista was in pain, because every time the needle pierced her skin, she would purse her lips together tightly. Then when the blood stained thread came out from the other side, her body would shiver a little.

She could feel everything, but she was able to tolerate pain without making a single sound.

This new knowledge made Kallum feel strangely uncomfortable. Calista was never like this. She was strong willed yet fragile, stubborn yet weak, but now she had completely gotten rid of her weak side, and now she was just obstinate!

All this happened after that one fateful night. What was the story behind her body full of cuts and bruises that made her change so drastically?

If he had given her more attention, perhaps he would have noticed that there was something wrong with her earlier, and then she might not have become so extreme.

When he thought about this, he felt his heart ache, and felt that it was too kind a punishment to sentence those two scoundrels to life imprisonment!

“If it really hurts, inject some anesthesia!”

He tried to pass her the syringe because he couldn’t bear to see her in pain.

Calista’s forehead was covered in a thin layer of sweat from the pain, and her eyes were all teary. When she looked up at him, Kallum felt like he couldn’t breathe.

“No need.”

Perhaps it was because she was in great pain and thus feeling happier, she wasn’t so irritated by Kallum anymore. She was especially curious about the guilt and frustration in his eyes.

She continued sewing and Kallum couldn’t force her to use anesthesia. He could only stand by the side and watch her pierce the skin around the wound again and again, and for a moment, he felt that every needle was piercing his own skin.

Finally she let out a whimper through her pursed lips, and Kallum couldn’t stand it anymore. He stuck his arm in front of her and said coldly, “Don’t endure the pain anymore. If you feel pain, just bite me!”

He just didn’t want her to continue torturing herself like that!

Calista scoffed as she looked up at him, her teary sparkling eyes reflecting her laughter. “If you’re afraid that I’m in pain, then kiss me!”

Kallum was still trying to process this in his mind, but his body had already started moving towards her pale lips, but Calista used two of her gloved fingers to stop him at the last minute. Their faces were now very close to each other, and he saw the sparkles in her eyes twinkle, making him stop breathing!

She laughed, and it made her beautiful face look more malicious than before. “Are you being so obedient because you love me?”

Kallum froze.

Love? Calista? You’ve got to be kidding!

Calista saw a flash of rejection in his eyes, and took that as his answer, and she pursed her lips into a smile.

“If it’s not out of love, then why do you want to kiss me?”

“I…”

Kallum’s eyebrows were tightly knit at this point.

He hadn’t thought of what to say, but Calista helped him to speak up. “It’s because you can’t believe it.”

“A woman who loved you for more than ten years suddenly doesn’t love you anymore, and this is like a challenge to you. All this time only you can choose to dislike others, but nobody has the right to abandon you. So you want to get back this infatuation from me, isn’t it?”

Had he gone crazy?!

The next day, Yelena realized that Calista wasn’t home and wanted to make a scene, but someone from the Fairchilds sent Calista back before she could do so. Benedict felt that his daughter was still young, and even though she was engaged to Kallum, she shouldn’t be too close to him.

But then when he thought about how strange Calista’s behavior had become, perhaps it was better for her to be with someone she likes.

So he decided against scolding her, and only told her not to do this again.

Calista naturally agreed. In the afternoon, Jonathan appeared as agreed. He looked forward to this arrangement of having a daily psychiatric treatment at 3pm, because Calista was simply too beautiful. It was a beauty that wasn’t only on the outside, but a dangerous sort of beauty, a great beauty who was a combination of both sharpness and indifference – Jonathan was very sure that absolutely nobody could escape her charm.

To make it easier for Jonathan to do his work, Yelena made arrangements to make sure there were no servants left in the house and even brought her own daughter out. She didn’t intend for Jonathan to do anything with Calista this week, but she thought it was good for them to get closer to one another, and better still, if Calista could fall for Jonathan!

So the moment Jonathan entered the house, there were no servants in the large living room, and Calista was sitting on the sofa by herself, drinking.

She swirled the red wine in the crystal glass with her fingers and looked like a cross between the great goddesses Aphrodite and Athena. When her eyes landed on Jonathan, he felt like she could see right through him.

“Hello Ms. Stafford, pleasure to meet you. Before we start the treatment, please allow me to introduce myself again…”

He quickly put away all the greed and covetousness in his eyes and started talking excitedly, but before he could finish talking, Calista held up her hand to stop him and even poured him a glass of wine. This attitude was definitely much better than the first time when she splashed tea in his face.

Jonathan was quite sure she did have some mental issues, but this didn’t have any effect on her charm. He took the glass from her as if he were very flattered by her, and because he was in close proximity to her, he drank everything down in one gulp anxiously.

Calista then smiled. “The treatment is not urgent, Dr. Larkin, why don’t you have a listen to this first?”

She passed him her cell phone, and Jonathan had completely let down his guard. But the moment he clicked the sound file open, he could hear the familiar moaning of Yelena, causing him to drop the glass in his hand in shock, and the glass shattered on the floor.
