Sitting on the couch, Layla was already letting her imagination run wild. "Did your boyfriend give you a hard time? You ran away from home, and now you've nowhere else to go but my place?"

Surprised by how vivid Layla's imagination could be, Samantha responded, "I guess?"

Seeing that Samantha didn't deny it, Layla was totally convinced. "For real? Is he abusive? Did he hit you? Damn! Do you want me to get someone to ruffle him up for you?"

Samantha replied, "Nothing wrong."

She wanted to flee, but Layla pinned her down on the couch. She was surprised by how strong Layla was and didn't even have time to react.

Layla pulled up Samantha's pant leg and saw the injury. The wound wasn't treated yet and had scabs around it.

Her expression darkened right away. "It's bleeding. Who's the jerk who did this? I'm going to find someone to take him down."

Seeing Layla so worked up, Samantha was worried that things might blow up. Initially, she'd planned to keep her meeting with Ethan under wraps.

After all, she was hoping he would make the first move to surprise Layla. Yet, with the situation worsening, she had no choice but to spill the beans.
