She couldn’t shake the image of Danny and Max frozen in fear as the rogue wolf prowled toward them. Her hands trembled as she poured herself a cup of tea, trying to steady her nerves. But no amount of warm liquid could calm the storm inside her.

A soft knock at her door pulled her from her thoughts. Orion entered, his expression unreadable. “You’re up early,” he said, taking a seat at the small table.

Felicia sighed, brushing a strand of hair from her face. “How could I sleep after last night?” She paused, her voice lowering. “Orion, this doesn’t feel like a coincidence. That attack… it wasn’t random, was it?”

Orion’s lips pressed into a thin line, his silence confirming what she already suspected. “No,” he said finally. “It wasn’t. They were after the children, Felicia. Specifically, your children.”

Her breath hitched, and she gripped the edge of the table to steady herself. “Then what do I do? How do I keep them safe if even this pack isn’t safe anymore?”

Orion leaned forward, his sharp eyes locking with hers. “I’ve been thinking about that all night. Felicia, I don’t think you should stay here anymore. Last night was a warning, and it won’t stop there. Whoever sent those rogues will come again. And the next time, it could be worse.”

Felicia stared at him, her stomach twisting with fear. She had built a life here, carved out a fragile sense of stability for her boys. But the thought of staying, of putting her children at further risk, made her decision feel inevitable. “Where would I even go?” she whispered.

Orion hesitated, his expression conflicted. “Lucien spoke to me last night after the attack. He offered to take you and the boys to his pack. He said he has the resources and security to keep you safe.”

“Lucien?” Felicia’s brow furrowed. “I barely know him, Orion. How can I trust him?”
