Chapter 4
Apr 17, 2025
“Alpha!” A guard barged into the living room, breathless. “The Luna…she collapsed!”
“What?” Damien shot up from the couch, his heart thundering in his chest. He pushed past the guard and rushed outside.
He found Felicia lying on the ground, pale and motionless. Danielle knelt by her side, feigning panic as she glanced up at him.
“Damien! She just fainted out of nowhere!” Danielle cried, clutching her stomach for dramatic effect.
Ignoring her, Damien crouched and scooped Felicia into his arms effortlessly. “Open the car,” he barked, his voice tight with urgency.
Danielle scrambled to obey, fumbling with the handle before pulling the door wide. He placed Felicia carefully in the back seat, her head lolling to the side, then slid into the driver’s seat.
Danielle climbed into the passenger seat, her teary eyes glued to him.
The drive to the hospital was silent, save for the hum of the engine and the occasional sniffle from Danielle.
When they arrived, nurses rushed to the car and whisked Felicia away on a stretcher. Damien stood frozen, his hands clenched into fists as he watched her disappear down the hallway.
“She’ll be fine,” he muttered, more to himself than anyone else.
“Damien…” Danielle’s soft voice broke through his thoughts. He turned to find her staring at him, her eyes glistening with unshed tears.
“I hope I’m not the reason,” she murmured, her hand instinctively resting on her stomach. “Is this…because of me? Because of our child?”
Damien’s jaw tightened, his gaze flickering between her and the corridor Felicia had been taken down.
Reality tugged at the edge of his mind, reminding him of where they were, but Danielle’s soft touch clouded his judgment.
“Take me home,” she whispered, her fingers tracing circles on his chest. “Please…we can continue this where no one will disturb us.”
Damien hesitated, glancing back toward the hospital entrance.
“Please,” Danielle pouted, her eyes shimmering with fresh tears. “I need you, Damien.”
Her teary expression broke his resolve. He nodded, sliding back into the driver’s seat. As he started the engine, Danielle leaned in, nibbling gently at his earlobe.
A groan escaped his lips as desire overtook his senses, pushing aside any lingering thoughts of the woman he had just rushed to the hospital.
He drove off, leaving Felicia behind.
